Larian Studios Forums Divinity - Original Sin Divinity - Original Sin - Enhanced Edition Combat question

I am playing this game for the first time. I have finally exited Cyseal and have had a few battles in the wilderness.

Two times now, I have knocked enemies down, and then when I try to target them on the ground, the cursor alternates between their body, and a place 2 feet to the side of them.

If I don't click at the precise moment the cursor is over their body, I wind up hitting the ground beside them. Is this some kind of mini-game built in to help enemies?

Whatever it is, it's annoying. The attack point should be exactly where I have the cursor pointed.

Anyone know what I'm talking about here?

Have you tried using tactical view for a more precise, top down view? I'm playing on the Xbox One and I believe it is either up or down on the D-pad. If I'm ever having trouble targeting something, I switch to tactical view and I'm usually able to do what I want.

You can also right click an opponent and select attack (right clicking the ground would have no effect, if the character wasn't moving or doing something else that that would cancel). For spells/skills, you can use the turn order portraits at the top of the screen to target opponents. Zooming in and/or rotating the camera may also help.
