So my brother and I finally managed to finish our playthrough of Divinity Original Sin back in January after over a fortnight of playing the game on its hardest difficulty, and it was one hell of an experience!

There were a lot of hard battles - like how it took us over an hour to take out Diederik - for my brother to figure out the best strategies for and lots of lore for me to get stuck into, but I was really surprised at how few mentions there were of the Dragon Knights; I think there were only two mentions of them in total in the entire game, one about the Dragon Commander and Maxos and the other being in the Sword of Holy Flame's description. For a lore-sponge like me, who was eagerly going through the game reading every book I could get my mitts on and exploring all the dialogue trees, it was kind of a disappointment [Linked Image]

I'm guessing that Maxos was still trying to figure out how to turn people into them in the first place or had only just done so, meaning that there weren't many of them in the world or were so new to it that they hadn't played any real role in recent events, but I was wondering if there was going to be any mention of them in DOS 2?

I'm not expecting them to play an important role or anything, just for them to make a cameo or at least get a mention or something at some point in the game. Maybe even a quest to do with Lovis and Amdusias and their friendship turned rivalry over becoming a Dragon Knight, or something along those lines...and nothing would make me happier than to see the Patriarch again! There is a ton of lore present about the Dragon Knights in Divinity II: Ego Draconis and its extension story, Flames of Vengeance. It's also the last game in the timeline, the Original Sin game taking place several centuries before. That is likely the reason so little mention of the Dragon Knights is in the game, because of its place in the timeline.
Note that, although the Dragon Emperor was considered a Dragon Knight, he is the offspring of a human and a dragon, and isn't necessarily a Dragon Knight created by Maxos as by tradition. So, while Dragon Knights may not be mentioned, Half-Dragons would likely also make an appearance, since we have all of the original Divinity Races in the roster (we only got Humans and Imps rendered in Original Sin).

I think their big times were over even before Original Sin. Divinity 2 played 2000 years after the height of the Dragon Knights and Original Sin 1 1200 before Original Sin 2. OS2 is playing before Beyond Divinity and Divinity 2 and there were only a few 100 years between those titles, I think. Not more than 200 years. So technically they just could have been forgotten, but it would also be plausible, if Larian didn't put much references in OS1, so the game could stand more on it's own feet.

Well, we also had Undead (not council member) and Orcs (member of the council of seven) and one Elf (council member). And a lot of Wizards (They do count as council members^^).

This is a pretty cool topic.
Where are all the flying ships that we saw in dragon commander? Did that line of technology just cease to exist by OS1?

They ceased to exist at the end of Dragon Commander, zeppelins only reappearing sometime just before Divinity 2. It all just barely fits in, lore-wise. It'll be interesting to see what D:OS 2 will say about that.

Unless otherwise specified, just an opinion or simple curiosity.
