EDIT: Oops; I answered for D:OS, rather than D:OS 2.
Co-op is drop-in / drop-out, so the person joining takes over one or more characters from the host's party. If someone joins during character creation, both players get to customize their own character.

Actually, I'm not sure if the details for multiplayer character creation for D:OS 2 have been worked out. I opened this topic from the Active topic page and missed the forum... ouch

The only thing I would love to see is them adding Coop where I can start a game and if my friend wants to join he can jump in with the main character from his game.

The whole "He can create a companion and play as that" isn't as fun.

If the game is tracking the relationships between the characters, and character choices and actions influence NPCs, character development and the world, it is not practical to move characters between different games. There would also be issues with character level and non-respawning opponents and quests.

One more question then.
The player that joins and plays as a companion, will he get achievments or will that still be Host Only?

AFAIK both people get the achievements on PC for D:OS, so assume it will be the same for D:OS 2.

Sony and Microsoft have requirements to track which players are present when trophy/achievement events are started (to prevent achievement 'abuse' of joining at the end of something and letting the host complete it). Since the game wasn't designed to even track which character was present, for the most part, if could not for players, so can not give achievements to players that are not host (or player 1 for local co-op). That said, I've seen some people saying both did get achievements on console.

So its simmilar to Original Sin 1.

The question is then: can you customize your companions or not?
If not that would mean that only if you start the game together you get to make more than one character and the rest is a bunch of premades?

There are some issues with this. One: if that player leaves, his "custom companion", how will that one act?
If the companions are premade: do they have premade personalities? What about characters of other players then?
Two: Sven talked about things like one of your companions beeing a spy for example, could you not easily find out about that by another player taking over that character?

IIRC it was said during the Kickstarter there would be some kind of customization for the case of someone dropping into an existing game.
