I'm hoping it's an evil race (I at least want one) that specializes in dark magic cursing enemies or spreading plague Necromancer poison specialists

A potential quest

you and your party are heading into town up ahead but in the last town you got a note telling you to infect the town or spread plague

So while in the last town you secretly released the curse /plague and its slowly killing the town your heading to
The last town your wizard got a quest telling him of dark wizards corrupting the local Lord so the town is already suspicious of wizard's

On the way you slip the plague vile into his inventory

The guards search him and arrest him and to make sure he won't mess with your plan's you enter the prison and kill him

Meanwhile your 2 other party members know your wizards been arrested so go to free him

So you have to stop it you tell the guards( you are in disguise )that your elf friend intends to free the prisoner he is arrested its up to your knight but now he has to deal with hoards of undead he goes to fight
But is outnumbered you as a fellow undead could save him but instead curse him weakening him greatly so he has to flee town

The Lord dies and you steal all the treasure and his magic book's before resurrecting your furious companions

They once again wonder why they brought you along

Elven? If you had a tongue I'd cut it out. rpg003

Actually, I've got nothing against elves, though will probably play D:OS 2 with an undead main character once it's released (and check out some of the other options during the beta).

Undead aren't... well... evil in this case.

In fact it is pretty well established that the intelligent undead aren't evil.

The alpha and beta will be later in the year sometime, and are part of the Kickstarter (and Paypal) rewards (with all tiers that include the game). The start of the beta will probably correspond to release on Steam Early Access (that's what was done for D:OS, at least). GOG has a similar 'Games In Development' feature now, so D:OS 2 could potentially be made available there, as well, depending on the details.

Anyone know how gm campaign creation will work how will we save campaigns etc ? From what I've heard the game won't have servers (correct me if I'm wrong) so how will gm mode campaign gm campaign creation and dungeon dm even work if they don't have server's for the online portion of the game?

Okay I've got a nerdy question - so beware!
===========================
I'm kind of wondering if undead can consume food or drink. I mean technically shouldn't it go straight through them?

I hope that food/drink is not able to be consumed because really what effects would that have on a bag of bones anyways?

(You would probably be dependent on necromancy to restore your health and watch out for existential dilemmas least you fall apart!)

It would be pretty cool if you could replace your arms and legs with the bones of different animals to take on some of their powers and become a true terror. Want to run like a wolf? Find a wolf skeleton and place your head in place of the wolfs. Want to fly? Find the skeleton of a large winged bird and add your head. Only problem is you would have to store your body somewhere safe least you get stuck that way.

What about milk? The calcium in it would be good for your bones. biggrin

Then undead should bathe in milk like an Egyptian ;-)

Not all Undead are skeletons. Vampire, zombie, ghost, lich, mummy, ghoul...

Are Vampires technically undead? I think to be undead you have to have died and not all vampires actually die they get "turned". Though it depends on the specific setting I guess.

Vampires are widely classed as undead, as in most fictional universes (including the classics) they have a dead body that is not yet decayed and maintain this state through whatever means the author chooses.

I guess this speculation means that undead origins don't have an in-game universe explanation yet? Funny when you consider how many Divinity games there have been.

Given that you will be able to visit the underworld, my guess is that these undead have just strolled across into the land of the living. Often, the dead in the underworld are depicted much like normal people.

Given that it will be a playable race, though, they'll probably want to make it distinct, so my expectation is that they could choose a design similar to the undead of WoW, which means taking elements from skeletons and zombies and doing something different.

Dragon Commander offered the most information on how undead originate in the Divinity Universe, through one of Yorrick's lectures. But even that didn't do much more than split the undead into naturally occurring and raised by magic.

During Dragon Commander's period, I believe the only kind of undead around were the skeletal undead, with a certain decision having the potential of creating the first vampire.

Divinity 2 was, I believe, the first introduction to naturally occurring undead, as well as a decent explanation of ghosts.

And that is most of what I know about undead lore in the Divinity universe, but I'm hardly a lore buff.

So, I have to somewhat agree that undead origins and types aren't really explained in previous games. We'll just have to see what D:OS 2 offers.
