I've been really enjoying the game but I'm finally grinding to a halt with my progress so if anyone can offer any help here I'd be grateful.

Much of the plot has started to go over my head so I might get some of this wrong, however - I'm in the swamp area, I've killed Cassandra, There is a large ruined area that is blocked off by a couple of locked gates and a seemingly impassable area with a totem structure. I've cleared out (I think) the swamp itself. I've accessed the druid dungeon and got down to an alchemist. He hinted that I needed to boost perception to continue. There is a section down there that seems walled off. I have perception 7 (+ Large Perception potions) but no clues as to where I should be searching. I have a rune of somesort that hints that it grants access to somewhere.

Anyway - reading my log isn't much help, I could really do with the game pointing my direction to me - the last few hours has been a grinding frustration of getting nowhere.

Could anyone make sense of the rough position I'm in? I'm really not sure where I should be exploring at the moment.
Cheers

Maybe grab an NPC follower & dump Perception into them. I know you need decently high perception in the later areas (12+) to find star stones & other secrets (or if you have plenty of cash on hand, you can go to the Teller of Secrets & buy the info).

Cheers, but where should I even be exploring at the moment? Is the walled off area in the druids dungeon the key to progression? The whole ruined area in the north of the map is locked off but I don't know if that's bepcause I've missed something or if it's for later on. Much of the area near to it just blows me up with hidden mines with no warning (which is not fun).
I'm level 18 if that's relevent.

The area walled off north of the Source Temple is not accessible, and even if you could get there, your characters would not be able to move.

There are a bunch of plants partly obscuring the false wall in the archway that you need perception to detect, at a location
x:126 y:163, as shown under the mini-map with the keyboard UI, and on the map with the controller UI.
It is near a chest, across from the path that leads down and eventually to the alchemist. Earth summons have good perception, but I'm not sure if the spider would be able spot it.

Hi Raze, thanks for the help but the area you are pointing to is one that's already been cleared. That hidden area is the place where I dug up and burned Cassandras bones. I then went off and killed Cassandra but I seem to have now lost track of where I should be.

My log isn't much help. My main quest update says "The forest spirit told us how to enter the Source Temple!". However', I can't remember what was said during that conversation.

My log also has as the latest update "We have discovered how to reconstruct a broken soul forge. If we can restore Leandra's soul forge to Icara we may still manage to redeem her"

If I've been told how to enter the source temple, or how to reconstruct a broken soul forge then I'm afraid I don't remember... I wish the log would be a little clearer.

I have in my inventory a "magic rune stone" that will apparently grant me "access to the fabled source temple".

I'm just not sure where to be next...

If I'm correct you should be able to see a big stone door with 4 elemental stone before it.
You just have to find a way to "activate" those stones.

Here, this helped : http://guides.gamepressure.com/divinityoriginalsin/guide.asp?ID=32904

Thanks for the info, I, I think that's the reminder I need to get me going forward again.

I have a track record of not finishing RPGs once they run too long or I start to get bogged down (even those that ate great) but I'm really enjoying Divinity and I don't want to run out of steam smile

Well to be honest I play with a friend, and sometimes we're both : Yeah, no clue what to do here, so we just go for the solution.
It happened 2 or 3 times in the course of a 80 hours gameplay, which is perfectly fine for us, we're not so much for the "adventure kind of game where you try every combination possible".
We're pretty much where you are now, and I think we're getting close to the end, so enjoy the final hours, hopefully we will.

Ah, you meant the other 'walled off' section of the druid dungeon, behind the large stone face. That shows up on the map, but is just a dead end corridor, with nothing there.
