Same as in D:OS EE, wands are automatically ranged weapons and let you have more bonuses given that you can hold two of them and forget they're there -> This makes wands the clear choice for a mage given how important your main stats are and how hard it is to build them up without being shafted somewhere.

EDIT: Unless, I missed something? It'd be pleasant to be wrong on this after D:OS EE making staffs moot

EDIT2: Oh, and someone brought up (on steam) how having two wands that synergize (earth/fire or water/air) can let you have combos -> Not exactly sure if this true since I never actually relied on wands/staffs in combat *shrug* except that odd bash skull with staff at beginning when not enough spells

Yeah, you can have more bonuses, but just remember that staff is considered a two-handed weapon and hits based on int which means higher crit multiplier (if you put points into two handed) so I can sort of imagine phoenix diving into an enemy with my enraged, hasted, adrenaline rushed, flesh of sacrificed, staff bro to cleave into things.

Alternatively, I could go dual wielding wand bro that is aiming for 40-50% crit or something. That

Or wand/shield if I don't care for the missing stat point and care more about survivability (dat +110~ physical armor doe).

I think it depends on the Wizard you're building, your game plan, resources available, etc. Because a staff can be pretty competitive.

Warfare skills while using a staff lel.

And yeah fire/earth or air/water will combo which is pretty cool but that potential for friendly fire means your melees might be stacking more magic armor frown Not discrediting it though, it's damn powerful.

The only thing staff has is higher crit multiplier using two handed....and rage to get the crits.

But if you care about crits as a mage it makes more sens to use rage to crit with a spell instead of a staff usign the talent. Even the damage multiplier wouldn't make up for the difference on higher end spells.

And further as a mage you'll want to spend combat points into spell schools since that's your main form of everything.

At no point is a mage gonna be built around hitting with a weapon...that's what the warrior is for.

And given the versatility of wands and everything above...there's really never a good reason to go with a staff unless you specifically want to hit people with it for some odd reason; and even then it'll never be as powerful or efficient.

EDIT: and hybrid builds make better use of a wand *shrug*

Always fighting the good fight! horsey smile

Cooperative PvE is where my toleration for multiplayer in RPGs pretty much ends. If you go further than that then you will need to make sacrifices to gameplay, which can harm the singleplayer experience.
