I think it depends on the Wizard you're building, your game plan, resources available, etc. Because a staff can be pretty competitive.



The only thing staff has is higher crit multiplier using two handed....and rage to get the crits.

But if you care about crits as a mage it makes more sens to use rage to crit with a spell instead of a staff usign the talent. Even the damage multiplier wouldn't make up for the difference on higher end spells.

And further as a mage you'll want to spend combat points into spell schools since that's your main form of everything.

At no point is a mage gonna be built around hitting with a weapon...that's what the warrior is for.

And given the versatility of wands and everything above...there's really never a good reason to go with a staff unless you specifically want to hit people with it for some odd reason; and even then it'll never be as powerful or efficient.

EDIT: and hybrid builds make better use of a wand *shrug*
