Well the easiest way to to do it is the flowers. It takes quite a bit of leg work but you can haul a fire and poison flower all the way up to the battle spot. Since your not damaging the characters, they do not become hostile. Once you have inflicted enough hell on them you can commence whatever asswhooping you wish. Or once you begin the conversation with the bishop swap characters and begin setting your "stage" with as many oil/poison barrels as you can hold. Hope it helps.
