The method of escaping the island seems to be on a Magisters ship. It's reasonable enough to assume that the ship would have tools for putting on and taking off collars.
Therefore, all characters will probably start out the next part with their collars gone even if they still had them. That will both reduce headaches for the writers and it is logical.
