Sometimes simplicity is a good thing. With a simple system we can have more recepies. smile

Humor in crafting is all well and good but be consistent the issue with the DOS crafting system is you can craft a boot but not a glove you need a kit for a ring but not a suit of armor. The ingredients are not intuitive because they don't put any logic into the thinking behind crafting. In this section someone mentioned making mash potatoes with a hammer, all right i can get behind the humor of that but make it a boiled potato to make mash potatoes first not a raw potato and then cook it. This is only logic they don't need to add more steps to the crafting system to at least add some logic only change the recipes a bit.

For example if you take an axe to a log you should make some smaller logs lets call these wooden branches fitting into the current name of items in the game and some wood chips. Then you take the axe to those branches you should make some wooden sticks and some more wood chips. Refine those wood sticks with a knife and you would get some wood chips and an arrow shaft. Logic would dictate that be the order of a break down for a wooden log using the names they put on things already in the game.

Currently the recipe goes wooden log equals two wooden branches and wood chips and that is the end of the crafting chain.

If you want comedy crafting there is nothing wrong with it but lets talk about the pumpkin helmet really quickly. So for DOS 2 you want comedy so you keep the crafting of the pumpkin helmet lets keep it more realistic even there you carve the Jako-lantern face into a pumpkin and open it up pulling out the guts knife + Pumpkin should equal a raw Jacko-lantern then require it be baked before being worn as a helmet not to stiffen the material but because if you put a raw Jako-lantern on your head it would fill disgusting leave things in your hair and smell gross as well. Logic even in comedy crafting can apply with minimal recipe changes.

I'm not saying they need to make a multi stage crafting system either just use some amount of logic when it comes to the ingredients which you are combining I would be happy if they made the recipe for boots animal hide plus a wooden branch. At least I can get there in my mind of what my character is doing to make the boot. using leather scraps and an anvil????? I can't make it there what is he doing to make the boot? laying leather on the anvil and rubbing it back and forth? slapping it against the anvil until it ends up in the relative shape of a boot? pounding it with a hammer until its in the shape of a boot? Get what I am saying?

Even if they made it scraps of leather and a needle and thread it would make more sense maybe he is making a boot like a moccasin I could buy that and then make leather armor animal hide and a needle and thread because there is no way you could make leather armor that was worth anything out of a 1/2 lb of leather scraps and a needle and thread. I am merely asking the devs to think before implementing the full crafting system in the game.

I really don't care what they come up with as long as it is better than the first one in terms of intuitive crafting. especially since crafting books just like in the first one are random loot and random vendor items. I am also asking them to make sure if you can craft one piece of armor you can craft all pieces of armor and all weapon types. Not just you can craft this but not this because we don't feel like putting that in the game.
