Hia, I have a minor problem that seems to be getting bigger! When entering SF castle, your (first)mission is to find Janus cat (Ernie or so its called) Now my problem is that i cant find the stupid little milklover (I checked the forum on previous questions on this, but searching about 40+ forumpages takes the fun out of life, so. If all is well, the cat should be in the main hallway. Well not in my case. No cat anywhere and I can't continue with anything else.(quests that is ) I dont want to restart the game cos of this......plz gimme some advice on what to do Thanks in advance dTdarin

Arhu will approach you if you go via kitchen - cutscene.
Have you entered the castle before? By using pyramids, not having the invitation?

To answer you question: Yes, its the first time I entered SFcastle. I have received an invitation. I watched the cutscenes (incl. some ''gnome'' steeling 1 of my portal stones and got the tour through the castle) I found Janus, he wants me to find his kittie (lolz, gotta luv the DD humor) Now thats the problem: Been wandering (checking every little corner there is, incl. where he suppost to be on the pic) through the castle. No kittie to be found ( thaught of injecting my own cat via the cdrom, didnt work either)

I got a previous save (lvl 10, hmpfff), guess I should load that one again, since all options seem to be gone (cant do other quests in castle before finding the freckin' kittie)Kinda sux hard when youre at lvl 23 at the moment.

ps. Is entering the SFcastle via the Rivertown Market sewer an option? Maybe I get a (partly) different storyline(without the cat, i mean)????

No entrance via sewers - dead-end alley.
Did you play version 1.29 - 1.32 with your saves and then updated to 1.33 during the castle save? If so, your non-Arhu-save could be corrupt.
Which version are you playing?

You could be right. I started playing DD with version 1.29a. Then i didnt play for a while. Next I updated to latest version (1.33)and started playing again. Now my saves are probably corrupted.

Q: can i return and start playing with v 1.29(new clean install) and pick up my old saves or should I restart the whole game with v1.33(there goes all the hard work)?

Did you read Lar's post? Are there any 1.29 saves you didn't use in 1.33? All saves before the 22nd of April, right? You can see the date on your save list. These should be ok - all others not.
I'd backup the 1.29 saves you didn't use (or do you still have them stored somewhere else?) into another folder.
Uninstall the whole game - EVERYTHING - reboot - defragment your partition - full install of 1.029 - download/install 1.34 (even if the support info says 1.33, it's really 1.34 and has 10.3 MB, was included yesterday night, 2nd May 2003). Copy your latest 1.29 save into the game = play and have a look. if you're satisfied, load the others in there, too.

Remember: On installing: no other programs in the background, please (Antivirus, Firewall, icq, internet etc) Check if you have admin rights.

I tried going back to a v1.29 save and see ......the kittie is there <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />.
Gonna backup my saves and give your option a try, i will let you know if that works (might be usefull to others with same probs)

I updated to 1.34 and the 1.29 saves seem to work fine(didnt test all of em)
The last saved game (with kittie troubles) also runs proper (cutscene with "Arhu" and next quest from Janus)

I'm having the same problem. The cat just isn't there. I loaded the patch almost as soon as I started playing. Any advice? I really don't want to have to start over.

Did you approach the hall by the kitchen from the north?
Did you use the teleporter stones to get into the castle before getting an invitation, and talk to Janus about the cat?

I did not enter the castle using the teleporters, I waited until I got an invitation. I entered the kitchen from the hallway to the north. I spent a lot of time completely clearing out all the "fog" from the southern half of the map on both sides of the river and on the west side of the river I've cleared it out up to the Cursed Abbey before going to the castle. Could that have something to do with it? Maybe I messed up a quest I haven't been given yet?

The castle quests are pretty much independent of the others, except for getting an invitation.
Try going to Janus and telling him you can not find the cat, then leave his room and head south to the hallway; hopefully that will trigger the cut scene.

Yes, that worked, thanks. I think the problem was that I hadn't gone straight down to the kitchen before, I had gone the roundabout way through the throne room.
