Hi,
I just bought the game, when i launch it, it crashes after the first load screen, past the larian logo. I've tried everything i can find on here and steam page, but nothing works.
I disabled antivirus, firewall, got C++ up to date, VC redist, launching from Steamapps folder, nothing seems to work, and it seems like i'm not the only one.
I know this is the beginning of alpha, but this is very irritating, i'm sorry.
If anyone with a similar crash or this one found something to make it work please share it here. Thanks

What are your system specs? What operating system are you running? 64 or 32 bit? Is there a crash log being output that you could provide? Have you made sure to disable all of your firewalls, including ones present on your modem/router/in your antivirus software? What kind of crash is it? Black screen then close, CTD, BSOD, lock up, etc? Are you on a laptop or desktop? If laptop, what's your system temp? Is your battery still good? Even if plugged in, a faulty battery can cause a system lock on more demanding games. Do you get an error message when you crash? If it's a BSOD, could you write down the STOP code and post it here? If it's a lockup, does ctrl+alt+delete circumvent the problem? How much ram are you using while trying to launch the game? What windows services do you have enabled? What SP are you running? Is your OS pirated, or have you activated it and installed Windows updates? Have you played around with your registry at all? Do you have similar problems on any other games? Any other information that you could provide, which you think could be helpful in diagnosing the issue at hand, would be helpful.

Thanks for your reply.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit official (SP1).
I dont get a crash log because when the loading screen bar finishes, i get the little white icon (loading) at the bottom and the game just crashes, closes itself. Then i get the "crash" box from Larian where i already wrote the problem i got and sent them, but no error message or crash message.
I have disabled firewall, antivirus software on my pc, my router usually never blocks anything, don't see why it would block after i launch the game tho ? considering i don't even hit the title screen.
I am using a destktop PC with 8GO of ram , my config should let me play without a problem since i play more demanding games and never had this problem before. I never touched my registry nor have any pirated OS, and my windows is up to date.
I tried everything on the forum that i could find, nothing works. I checked files with steam and everything is OK.
Edit: Some of my specs : processor is Intel core I5 2.5K 3.30Ghz , 8GO ram, graphic card is Geforce GTX 560 TI

I was thinking RAM at first, since you said the crash occured during loading, but this sounds like a software issue now that you say you have 8 gigs. Don't really know where to go from here, without an error log. Sorry bud. Hopefully, Larian will find the crash report you sent to be more than helpful, and have a patch out in the next build.

It's a shame cause i really wanted to try the game out and i don't have much time in the coming days... i feel a little robbed to be honest. I hope they can fix this, i saw 2-3 people having the same kind of problem here and on steam but none seem to have found a way and it really seems like a software problem, yeah.
Thanks again for your time Slampow.

Yeah! Anytime. I'll keep a look out for anything I hear about relevant issues or solutions, and keep you posted on how that goes, if it goes anywhere. I'm really sorry you can't play. If you live in Texas, you can come over to my house and borrow my rig. =D

If you check the Event Viewer, does that give an error code or 'Faulting Module' file name that might help identify the cause of the crash? - click Start (or WinKey-R), then type "event viewer" into the search box - after starting the Event Viewer, expand 'Windows Logs' in the left column and select 'Application' - in the center column, look for a recent error (maybe sort by Date and Time) for the game - check the information under the 'General' tab below the list of events, starting with "Faulting application name..." Try browsing to the '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder and deleting the 'Divinity Original Sin 2' subfolder. This folder contains the saved games, configuration files and a level cache folder. Normally I would suggest renaming the folder for troubleshooting purposes, but if you don't have any saved games that isn't an issue. Next, extract the replacement folder from the download below into your '..\Documents\Larian Studios' folder, and see if that will let you start the game without crashing. https://www.dropbox.com/s/kjvq79igruaeu4h/DOS2_doc_20165341.zip?dl=0The graphicSettings.lsx file is set to 1280x720 Windowed mode, Very Low quality preset, which you can change in the options (manually, or hit autodetect) if this gets the game to start. If that doesn't help, you can delete the downloaded My Documents D:OS 2 folder.

Hey, In the event viewer, i only found this : "The program EocApp.exe ceased to interact with Windows and closed" Error : Application Hang Also, i tried replacing the save file from the dropbox, i got the small window as expected but same thing happens: the first load bar goes to the end, the white loading icon appears, and the game just closes. Sorry if some of the words are inaccurate, i'm trying to translate from french the best i can. thank you for your help, but still nothing works

The white loading symbol appears immediately before switching to the main menu screen, and (at least on my system) is shown for less than half a second.
Try doing a clean boot and then test the game. Maybe also create a new Windows administrator user account and use that to test after rebooting. Click Start, or hit WinKey-R, type in msconfig and hit enter; in the General tab, click Selective Startup, uncheck Load startup items (if required) and leave Load system services and Use original boot configuration options checked. Next, Click on the Services tab, check the box to Hide all Microsoft services, then click the Disable All button, then click OK and reboot the computer. Run msconfig again to switch back to the normal boot configuration.

Got news, not good ones.
Tried creating a new admin user, disabled all services, reboot, launch the game : same as before, games closes itself at the first loading screen at the end (always)
I'm giving up right now. If nothing comes from this in a couple days i'm gonna ask for a refund and call it a day because this is getting pretty ridiculous. I've spent the little time i had trying everything to make it work, and the more i try the more it seems like it's not on my end (nothing seems to conflict with the game).

Something new happened.
I see the title screen now, but only for like one second, then the game closes like before.
The only change i've done was deactivate steam overlay and steam VR cinema mode. Could it be a Steam related crash with win 7 ? I'm gonna try what i can think of but this is very weird. Also, on a fullscreen mode with no save, the game crashes but doesn't close sometimes ( i have to use task manager) - with the save file in windowed mode that Raze put up here, i get to the title screen, but only for a second or two.
Edit : Also, i get to see the title screen only when i launch from steamapps folder and not from steam. With steam launch it's the same : crash at the end of the first loading

However, it was the case with Payday 2 a while back, so who knows? Of course, we could test this by launching it without Steam involved at all. I think this is how you do it with DOS2, but I could be wrong: Go into Steam/Steamapps/Common/Divinity Original Sin 2/bin and find EoCapp.exe, and double click it. Some games launch through Steam specifically, like Mount and Blade: Warband, so I'm not 100% it'll work, but might as well give it a try?

The story ends well This is pretty crazy. As it turns out, my graphic card was dying and i didn't really knew it since i was playing other games perfectly fine. Until yesterday after playing a demanding game for like fifteen minutes, the sound freezes into a horrifyingly weird blue screen. So yeah, my graphic card was dying and for some reason, was closing this game but not ANY other. I just got a new one today, and i was right. The old one was surely getting too hot and shut the game down or something. I just launched the game without any problem, no crash. I'm gonna play tonight ! Thanks for helping me through this frustrating adventure ! I hope you enjoy the game a lot, i'm gonna join the fun too now (and sorry for kinda wasting your time).

I'm glad it is working now. I hope the card was still under warranty (nice turnaround time, if so), or you were looking for an excuse to upgrade, anyway.
