I'm much more likely to need to go and attend to something at a moment's notice rather than save-scum and find games that are all "lol you'll have to replay from the last checkpoint, sucks to be you" to be tedious and irritating.

Which is why the saving is left alone *shrug* lots of good reasons to leave it....

Flee has no good argument for it at the moment. And people who keep saying "well, don't use it" can be easily countered with just about every other easy exploit in the game at the moment. (ex. Sneak)

That's where suspend saves (what I was describing) would come into play. You still get to save your game to go do something at a moment's notice, and come back to it as if you hadn't been gone at all. You just can't reload that save game, so if you need to go do something again, you'd need a new suspend save, which you would be fine with since you just wanted to save your progress and not start over from a few seconds ago.

I'm generally a fan of just leaving stuff be and not using it; the only time I've needed a bit of handholding from the game in that regard was getting myself out of the habit of fast travelling in Elder Scrolls games: sure, it could sometimes be tedious but paced the gameplay a lot better, but it took too much discipline to not keep saying "meh, I can't be bothered" so I had to add a mod to disable it for a while!

And work? I mean seriously, priorities! biggrin

But what's the point? That's what I'm failing to grasp: I see no advantages to a system that tampers with savegame viability but potential to cause annoyance.

On this I'm pretty much with aj0413, if it does not effect other players everyone should be able to save when he wish to. Limited saves should be for special ironman challenges like Honour Mode.

If people want to save scum everything, it their own loss. laugh

I once accidently started the Deep-Dweller abush with my friend being deep inside the enemies and me being outside, still needing a way to catch up. I had not safed for long, so I saved at the start of the battle. First try of fight went downhill, so we reloaded with the same disadvantage position and this time we managed it. Would no have been possible with suspend saves. ^^

What about having a high difficulty mode with Flee removed entirely?

Too much

You be making one talent meaningless and removing the ability of honor mode players to retreat at all

If people really really want to leave it untouched for causal play, just balance around tactical and leave the current one in place for lower difficulty

I don't think so. If you actually run away from a fight using your AP, the fight will stop when you are far enough away.

*shrug* it'd still make at least the flee talent meaningless

Unless you suggest changing it for tactical and above?

Removing flee panic button in tactical and honor mode but allowing for a version of tactical retreat is fine...as you say get far enough away :P but you got to do something with the talent in that case

I actually believe the best idea is to have to dump a smoke cloud (smoke grenade) on yourself to obfuscate your position or stun the opp to be able to flee. That at least is a bit tactical.
