Is it hard (technically) to allow for the customization of the body of characters?
I hope and think Larian will improve character's face customization, since its very simplistic now. But they should also allow for the customization of the body.

Apparently yes, if D:OS 1 was any guide. Keep in mind that by default, the game will have 10 models, one for each race-gender combination. Each armor piece and type must be modeled properly for each of those 10. Multiply that by the number of armor types in the game. Now, including just three armor types could mean multiplying the above number by 3, and the more body types you add the bigger that number gets.

Is it hard to code body customization like Neverwinter Nights 2 had? They had 2 sliders for height and width of the character, which was just basically stretching the character model but it remained the same in all other respects. Just that option can make everybody in the world just slightly different.

Depends on the game type. The engine. Animations. And so on and so forth. Games with sliders and such are built and designed from the ground up with that in mind; you can't expect it to be tacked on later. Also, there're plenty of design decisions that can be used to argue against the idea of full customization at the game engine level.

Without really looking at the design and specification documents one can't really know. Off the top of my head, however, I wouldn't ever consider full customization to be something to be prioritized for a game like this cause it means increasing the resources dedicated towards character models and how that all works instead of focusing on the combat and story and such

Better to use the simplest and easiest to implement system that allows for some customization for a sub system thats really their to enhance the system but isnt the core draw

I ask that because one of the things that annoyed me the most in DOS 1 was the Schwarzenegger build that my mage, archer or thief had. Maybe don't allow for full customization, but put 3 or 4 different builds to make up for some variety.

I'd really like to play as a fat ass dwarf...

Or a kim kardashian butt size. Yes, that would be nice.

It shouldn't technically be very difficult to allow some degree of re-sizing of the body parts.

How well would that work aesthetically is a separate issue, and I'm not quite certain if any of the animations stretch the character for emphasis.
