I definitely agree with the Necromancer tree being underwhelming. I had Lhose as an Air/Water/Necro, but even after I owned all the Necromancer spells, I just couldn't see any really worth equipping. Absorbing blood for HP was interesting, but worse than Restoration.
Shackles of Pain needs to work like Netherswap and put them between any two targets. Just being between the caster and a target is too limiting.
Throwing Knife is definitely bad. It supposedly can backstab, but it never did any damage worth mentioning even when backstabbing.
Walk in Shadows requiring 3 Memory and a Source Point is completely ridiculous and not at all worthwhile. Walk in Shadows was not especially impressive even in D:OS 1.
I agree that the buffs having long cooldowns makes them much less useful - and they aren't that useful in the first place, it's maybe one turn worth of protection.
