I could try to argue, that you probably totally misused the 'both' in this case, because before and after your 'and' are two pretty different things. But first I'm not an english teacher so I'm not that sure and second, I'm not sure if it would be worth the effort. It would just derail the train even further anyhow.
Anyhow, just because you think something sucks, doesn't mean everyone thinks the same. If they put much more effort into your wishes, most likely other stuff would have to be sacrificed for it, and I'm not sure, if that would be really worth it. The best story help shit if the gameplay it self is just not appealing.
