An easy way to steal, I have found, is to move an item out of the owner's view by dragging it. Go pick it up. Do any NPCs catch you for somply moving anything?

I have found an exploit: drag an item but don't realse it. Press 'L' (to bring up the load screen) now release. Note the item is still attached to your cursor. Exit the load screen and hit Ctrl+L (to quickload). What happens should be the following: A duplicate of the item appears in your inventory AND on the ground, so you get an extra two of the item.

I'm still to find a use for this myself, since I dislike active cheating. O.o

Nordom: "A question, Morte: how do you stay aloft?" Morte: "Flatulence, you stupid polygon."

if you just quicksave, open your inventory, drag something out but don't release it, then quickload, then you also still got that item on the cursor.

easy for duplicating money or potions and it avoids to open the loadscreen.

Quick Save before attempting to steal. Some NPCs (like Kistandalius in Ars magicana) do not like you even moving their stuff.
