The damage difference on Z is 100 (106 absorbed by armor) and 190~ going from a backstab to an enraged backstab using a normal attack cycle.
This doesn't match what I'm seeing. (You're saying a Backstab attack did 100 and a +Rage and +Backstab attack did 190, yes?)
I just ran an experiment using Ifan equipping only 1 dagger. His character sheet had 12-15 posted damage. I attacked several times for each of the following 4 cases and got the following damage ranges and texts to appear. Ifan had the Backstab talent.
Damage Results:
No Backstab, No Rage:12-15 damage (Control group)
+Backstab, No Rage:18-22 damage ("Backstab Critical" and "Critical Hit" text appears)
+Backstab, +Rage:18-22 damage ("Backstab Critical" and "Critical Hit" text appears)
No Backstab, +Rage :18-22 damage (only "Critical Hit" text appears)
As you can see, there was NO difference in damage for critting and backstabbing together, as opposed to when done separately, and both increased damage from the Control case.
Couple of thoughts, what were the Text Messages you saw?
Did you possibly not have the Backstab talent or not properly get behind the target?
I hope this comprehensive test squelches the rumors that one can Crit and Backstab. It simply doesn't work together.
