Well, there comes a time when the willingness to 'do the whole back and forth' starts to run counter to my own implied advice about having better things to do. Generally both sides of a position believe they are correct, so I will attempt reason until a resolution of some sort is reached or that is proven to be futile (which, generally, on the internet, may not take very long).
Just being unconstructive isn't inherently a reason to lock a topic.
