I went to the dwarven halls to pick up Sir Dante's brooch. I talked to the jeweler in question and he said "here's the brooch." However, the brooch does not appear in my inventory, on the floor or in his inventory. Not surprisingly the quest doesn't update. Any ideas of where the brooch went?

If you talk to the jeweler again, can you say anything about the brooch?

Have you talked to Sir Dante's servant again? If so, can you 'give' him the brooch, or do you only have the speech option that you have not retrieved it yet?

I have talked to the jeweler again and it doesn't have the brooch option.

I talked to Sir Dante's servant and it doesn't think I have the brooch.

It should be possible to get a replacement brooch using the procedure in the Lost Items topic, but since the quest log did not update when you talked to the jeweler, that may not be enough to complete the quest.

I would have to load one of my previous saves at that point to get the inventory files for the brooch, which I couldn't do until next week.

A couple people have had problems with a certain other quest, but talking to the two NPCs involved a few times would usually bring up the required dialog option to continue. Perhaps something like that happened here, or whatever glitch cause the problem was gone after you restarted the game, or rebooted your computer, or something.

Anyway, glad you got it working.

Been a long time since this post - I just had the same happen to me but mine didn't self fix. Was wondering if this ever came up again and if there was a fix?

Try making a new named save, and then seeing if the procedure in the FIX for broken Imp Council Member quest topic helps.

I don't recall this coming up again. If you email me a save (raze@larian.com) or email/post a Dropbox or Google Drive link, etc, I can take a look at it.
Each save is a folder in the in '..\SteamApps\common\divine_divinity\savegames' folder. In Windows Explorer you can zip a file or folder by right clicking on it/them and selecting 'Send To | Compressed (zipped) Folder'.

I'll give it a try (I'm assuming any save after the fact will be fine - I generally overwrite with three total saves and have played some since I posted).

Also, I believe I ordered from GoG.com but the file site is likely similar enough that I'll find it.

The game itself is the same on GOG and Steam; I just use the Steam install path if people do not specify, since Steam doesn't make it very clear, and GOG users are more likely to know the install path.

With your save (after I replaced the zero byte inv.b2 file missing from the zip) when I went to the dwarven halls and spoke to Elmer Vignus, I was able to say I was there to pick up the brooch, and then deliver it to Randell.
I did teleport back to Aleroth first, though (used the teleporter pyramid, hoping the other would be near a teleporter pad), to get to the dwarven halls, so maybe that reset something.

Interesting; I tried the "imp fix" to no avail (unless the brooch is labeled as "plain amulet". The inv.b2 was empty; it wouldn't zip until I moved it (that's why it was missing). Well, I'll follow what you did as exactly as I can - I've been getting the dialogue from the jeweler, just nothing in the inventory and no lines to give it to the tasker in Visilis. Now, an empty inv.b2 wouldn't have anything to do with it, could it? I could probably get another in the same way as the "imp fix" if that is the case.

EDIT: OK; I followed the same procedure you did and ---- it worked! It makes no sense to me but I got the proper response from Randell. However, I did not have anything additional in my inventory so, maybe it just doesn't appear (or, perhaps I'm haunted smile ).

The inv.b2 file is suppose to be zero bytes (either something changed in the file structure and it was no longer needed, but kept for compatibility or safety reasons, or it was planned for possible future changes but not needed). The game still requires it to be in the save folder, though.

After talking to the dwarven jeweller, I didn't get an actual brooch showing up in the inventory, either, but could deliver it to Sir Dante's servant to complete the quest, and return to the dwarven jeweller for a reward (1500 gold).

There is a 'Brooch' in his trade inventory with no special stats (just durability and weight), which matches the one I get loading my save before entering the Dwarven Halls (in that case, it doesn't show up in the trade window). If leaving the Dark Forest and returning hadn't reset something enough to complete the quest, I would have suggested buying the brooch and see if that would help.

I'll likely replay this game two, probably three more times; if it happens again, I'll try that and report back.
