Ok so on my continuous mission to make skills more compatible with each other here is my suggestion...

Make a class of weapons called "Throwing" weapons. They have ONE benefit...

Skills that use weapons to shoot or throw work with these weapons.

Include Spears in this class... and POSSIBLY Knives.

In fact Axe and Two Handed Ax can easily be the Strength version while Spears and Knives are the Dexterity.

They should be mainly melee weapons. They aren't darts, shrukens, and the like. They are throwing axes and spears.

With this there is a lot more compatibility between Warrior/Scoundrel classes and Marksmen.

---

As well to add to it a "Baton" which deals magic damage and counts as a throwing weapon as well.

This allows a Marksmen / Mage compatibility.

---

ALTERNATIVELY to the Baton!

Allow the Wand and the Staff to count as a ranged weapon for the purposes of Marksmen skills.

---

One of the BIGGEST assets the game has right now is the way the skillsets flow into one another and the ability to make just about any skill combination work. This is a vast improvement over the first game.

The game should capitalize on it and make sure that with very few exceptions all skillsets work together without too much finagling... and right now the two that have the biggest issues are Marksmen and Scoundrel.

Yet both of these can be solved by using the tools already in the game so long as they are adjusted. It will mean more animation work, but I think it is early enough in the development cycle to make this change.

Please consider it Larian and if anyone finds this a good idea, please show support or criticize it.
