This is a somewhat peculiar request, but I've been struggling to get my hands on the original character portraits for ingame characters (main characters and companions). The only versions I was able to find are low res, except for Madora - there's an HQ portrait of her from the Sisters of mercy achievement.
I tried poking around the game files, but I've been unable to extract the .pak files. Does anyone have any ideas?
I don't know whether or not this is the right subthread for this question, but I don't know where else to post this!

I don't know where the portraits would be, but the EE pak extractor can extract pak files (download).

I've tried using the EE pak extractor, but I can't seem to get it to work.
I've found an Icons.pak file inside the Data file, but I get an error everytime I try to extract it. I've absolutely no experience with modding or the EE pak extractor, so it could be I'm just doing something wrong...

You just have to select the 'PAK / LSV Tools' tab and enter the Package path and the Extraction path (any location where you want to store the files; don't choose a game path here). Then press 'Extract Package'. Extracting the Icons.pak works fine for me. Raze linked version 1.7.2, there's a newer version (Download), but it works with 1.7.2 as well.

If you're looking for information on how to change character portraits you should have a look on the mod page from 'The Internet' personally:

Custom Portraits for Enhanced Edition (Nexusmods).

Thanks for the help, but I'm still encountering the same error - could not load file or assembly 'LSLibNative.dll' or one of its dependencies. Is it possible it's because I'm using the Steam version?
Also, if you've managed to extract the Icons.pak, are there high res images of character portraits in it? Something like this is what I have in mind...

I've got the Steam version, too. No idea what might be the problem here.

You can download the icons from the 'Custom Portraits' mod site (s. above) and have a look at them (registration not necessary); the optional files contain the original main character icons.

Make sure you have the latest version of Microsofts Visual C++ Runtime installed. Norbyte posted a link to it in one of his more recent threads.

Icons are all in the Icons.pak file. There are several .dds files.

You can edit .dds files with Photoshop or use Gimp with the DDS-Plugin, that's what I use to edit .dds files.
There might be other programs for editing .dds files which I do not know about.
