So many pieces of terrain make the indicator completely invisible whether they be surfaces you've created or set pieces. It gets really annoying really fast having to rely on estimation as to what counts as the "back" of an enemy. The only reliable way to get behind an enemy is to use vault but at the same time it's really glitchy sometimes in places where the enemy has their back to a wall especially. It places you a bit too close to the target resulting in you having to move out of the back-zone to attack. The best way to work around the glitchiness of vault is to have "the pawn" talent and walk around to the back. This was just a bit frustrating throughout my 100+ hours (get a life me) of gameplay.

Agreed. Backstab, while vastly improved over DOS1, is still way to clunky to deal with for an entire campaign.
I do not see why the backstab area can't just be in the back. As in a 170 degree cone, instead of a tiny specific dot you have to pixel hunt for half the time.
Guessing they want to prevent more than 1 character backstabbing at the same time, but really don't think it is worth the trade off.

Ah 90° cone should be sufficient, but a change is necessary. Sometimes you click to backstab, then the character moves and the backstab turns into a not-backstab, pretty annoying.

OHH yeah... the game is rife with problems where characters won't move where you told them to.
