Is that a normal 'a lot' (at every level up and maybe after an hour playtime), or really 'a lot'? Did you do things like repeatedly crafting axes and swords to sell, turn them back into bars if they didn't have an AP bonus (highest sell value) and craft them again?
Check your play time (that will be shown as part of the default name when making a manual save). It depends a great deal how much you loot, trade and craft, but generally, as far as I recall the people who ran into this issue in the latest game version tended to have a play time of around 70 to 150+ hours.
