My conclusion is that currently, the Inquisitor preset will only be viable for the yet to be released dwarf companion simply because the overall stat and skill lines are optimal for a sword and board character - strenght buffs weapon damage and amount of physical armor you gain from gear,while intelect buffs mosquito swarm and amount of magical armor you gain from gear ; shield gives lots of physical and magical armour which make's it a no brainer when you have high str and int.
