So I've got a (rather stupid) problem... I can't decide between creating a brand new character or choosing one of the premade ones. I feel that I'll be missing out on some nice dialogues and quests by not playing Ifan of Sebille. On the other side I want to play as a character that I can identify with. The question being if I create my own character and recruit the others during the game will I get the best of both worlds?

I guess, as you said, you can just recruit the characters you find the most interesting, so I'd recommend creating a new character that is "you", and then you can use the other companions to talk in order to get their unique dialogues.

I would go with premade ones when the game release.
After a few games you can always go with own Character design.

There is no way that I would ever play a pre-defined character. I want to have a guy of my own. It comes handy that I like to play the male elf which is not possible as predefined. My group btw always consists of Lohse, Ifan and Sebille.

That, pretty much. Even with the limitations of the EA version I found it was quite amenable to a few play-throughs so I've played as myself, Lohse and Sebille (all twice each, I think) and the experience was different enough to keep me interested.

Non-premade ones have a better unique ability.

Game feels like it wants you to play a premade, considering the amount of work they did to provide each character their own unique dialogue and personal story. r.

The game DESPERATELY wants you to play premade.

Even the personality quirks non-premades get are stolen directly from premades.

To the extent that the Non-premade's ability being the best... Seems almost like compensation.

I never start as with a pre-made character in any game allowing creating an alter-ego. It is pity that the Devs invested their resources into the pre-made ones. Even considering them as companions, it looks schizophrenic that you can conduct dialogues on their behalf. If you assign a companion to talk to an NPC, you should just accept a result without a possibility to control the course of the dialogue.

If you want to get all your parties collars off early you *have* to play Lohse.

No other (premade or homemade) will pass the check.

Apart from that it doesn't make much odds - some of the characters are nicer than others but for XP, you only lose a few hundred by playing homemade and skipping the associated pre-built quest which doesn't matter at all really.

How can you get them off fast with Lohse? I remember getting mine off at the Seeker's Camp I think it's called, the camp where the Lizard Lady throws down the vines.

I also am curious about this.

Personally, I look forward to palying the undead Origin, and I enjoy playing as The Red Prince.
