Just curious, since we are only about 2-3 weeks from the launch, if the progress would carry over if we start an early access campaign right now?

No, alpha saves will not carry over to the release. The last game update was almost 3 months ago, and there have been too many balancing changes and additions (a couple more origin characters, the undead as a playable race, and related quest and dialogue changes, etc) to maintain save compatibility.

After release all updates will maintain backwards compatibility with release saves.
