(couldn't figure how to search)
Well, anywho, why is the mask a good thing? Doesnt it kind of ruin whats special about the diefferent races.
I mean i guess i could see it on the undeads, as they are not so welcomed by others.
But when i read the news thing about ripping faces. That would be a perfect racial for the undead.
anwho, like using the face of the Elf, why would it give someone the ability to use the elfs racial o_O?
tough it would be an awsome new game+ thing, So that the person can "change race" randomly whenever they want.
So anyway, my question is. Wouldn't the mask kind of break part of what makes it that characters story?

That mask DOES change faces and undead`s make that mask from ripping faces off. So it is alredy thing ability for undeads. And if I got it right that mask IS only for undeads. And why for them to wear mask..... well I guess you would not be disturbed at all if you see you "friendly neighbor butcher" having a skull instead of normal head???

It doesn't give you their abilities, you only appear to be that race.
Fane designed the mask to blend in, which is why I am guessing it is only available to Fane/undead. You are only wearing their face, you do not become a different race. Now it does beg the question, how does an undead dwarf get away with wearing the face of a lizard or an elf...? If I am not mistake you need to get 4 faces of each particular race and then you can make a face (16 face rips). Or maybe you just need 4 faces of a particular race then you can wear that racial face.

If I understand well whole video, mask is for all undeads, Fane only designed mask (or concept of mask itself) but is not only one who can wear the mask. Mask makes you look and sound like other race. If you have lizard face mask you will sound like lizard and others would treat you as they treat other lizards. Same goes for dwarfs and elfes too you only look and sound, but you dont get their skills.

"For example, you can shift to a Dwarf for better prices from a Dwarven merchant, or shift to an Elf to dine on a corpse and learn their memories with the Elven racial ability Corpse Eater. "
From the update :P
i understand the need of a face for the undead. But would a dwarf face, make an undead a dwarf? And then change to an elf and use the elfs racial

Undead would change looks (in video you can see undeads portrait changes to dwarf then back to skeleton) but you dont get their skills. Just looks dwarf gets better prices because that is how environment reacts to dwarfs. Mask changes only how others treat you.

So yeah, the undead needs a "real" face or they will be most likely be attacked by everyone everywhere. But its not only for the undeads, everyone can get a mask, as well as give their followers masks.
And sure if you look like an elf, other elfs will be extra nice. And sure if you look like a dwarf you will get story/quest choices according to what people think about dwarfs. It kinda makes picking a race more cosmetic and no real impact on the game (overlooking some racial stat boost... unless you will also get the race stat of the face you are wearing).. Well not counting if you pick a named character, that will have its on twist on the story maybe.
But the extra annoying thing is; Why would you be able to use another race's racial? Your not changing race, just hiding your real face.
So yeah, i can understand the reason for the undeads to be able to rip the face of someone and wear it, to be able to enter a town. I can also accept that wearing the face of elf would make other elfs except you more. Would make more sense though if the bonus you get for being the "correct race" when talking with people, would be less for someone wearing the mask, than someone who is that race. With the motivation that the person you are talking to get a sense that something is wrong but cant put the finger on it.
So you think that Elfs has the best stats for being a Rogue, but you really like how the lizard looks? No worry, pick elf and just change your face to a lizard and play the rest of the game as a lizard.
So i really hope there is a good in game and story reason for the mask, specially since its not only for the undeads, but really anyone who wants the best options/prices with the person you are going to talk to.

I think that the elfs are the only one who has a usuable racial.

This game is amazing. I pre-ordered the collector's edition so fast.
GMAddon1: Adds almost every single monster and NPC from the main campaign into GM mode, plus a few large custom maps to use in GM mode.

Maybe i read the update to fast. I thought every race would be able to make the mask (either early on or later). But if its the undeads racial thing, then its more acceptable. But
"Multiple masks can be made, and they can even be used by other living characters to disguise themselves as other races, allowing them to approach situations in new ways."
Means that either your main will meet undeads and become their friend (get as a follower) then be able to change faces (by making more masks). Or be able to as a main undead, give new faces to your non-undead friends. Which is strange in itself. Undeads needs the face, but why would a "normal" want to wear a deads face.
And its also strange to transform into other races really :P if you are an undead lizard, and put on a dwarf face, you turn into a dwarf. Would make more sense if undead lizard only could wear the face of another lizard :P
But hey, magic :P
if wearing anothers face was only an undeads trait. Then that would make a bit more sense (even if its changing race).
So yeah, im really looking forward to playing, specially the undead. But i deeply hope that there is a good in-game reason for being able to change race, and that living people also can do it.

In the update it sounded like only the undead could make it, anyone could wear it. As well as stating that if you wear the face of an elf, you can use corps eat (the elfs racial). But yeah, you need one face from each race. I think you can make a specifik face mask, like "human face". And when you have 4 facemasks, you can then in turn, turn those 4 masks into the "mask of changing" or whatever its called :P

Then why would you pick anything other then undead as your main? Or at least its almost forcing everyone to have at least one undead in the party, for the mask reason alone.

I do have to agree if as undead having skills of an undead and other race that you use their face (like for example elfs corps eating) that is waaaaaaaaaay OP I think that they will have to nerf that fassst. Or they are waiting to see how will it pass until after the release? We should not forget that none of us has actually played with undead and tested this properly so we dont know yet how powerful will it be.

Could have sworn I heard him use the word "not" before talking about being able to eat food and something about flesh but it certainly didn't clearly state that you can use their racial ability to eat corpses. I got the exact opposite message from the video. Looked like you only gain the social/conversation options from the race you're veiled as. If you meant to type the word can't instead of can, I apologize. Check out the video around 7:40. If I'm mistaken could someone direct me to the part/time of the video that says so? Thanks.
