The release date of Divinity: Original Sin II is in few days, the game is going to be awesome as we've seen in the latest kickstarter update, but it'll be more great with their Italian subtitles!
I mean, the Italian community isn't so huge as the other one, but I've very enjoyed the DOS: EE thanks to the translation in my native language.
So, I'd would like to know if DOS II will get Italian subtitles, or if there's any chance to get it somehow.

Absolutely agree.
Italian fans deserve a localization in their own language for this game, especially because the first chapter was.
So please, larian, don't betray the Italian community, and you'll surely be rewarded for your nice work and by their love for your games.
At least, a larian response would be very appreciated...

I'm italian and i don't think Larian should waste money on italian subs. Our community is too small to justify it. Also since you all resemble decent english-speaking people, why would you want to read poor translated subs while you can enjoy the better version?  +during the last decade our dubbing and subbing (once our pride) degraded in quality

why would you want to read poor translated subs while you can enjoy the better version? Maybe because Larian's writers like to use sophisticated writing and verbal jokes. If you want to understand them well you need to know english on higher level than usual B2. D:OS2 is not some Diablo clone or strategy game. Story, dialogs are part of core experience of D:OS2 as important as tactical combat. I play games for entertainment and siting with dictionary in front of the screen is not fun for me.

In my opinion most of rpg games and especially crpgs with all in game text jokes lose a lot with their translations on other languages, I personally think that Larian do not need to waste time on too much translation, maybe just 4-5 languages. But to does those translations really quality one (who knows maybe put even voice actors in some) but to waste time on translating game on every minor language before release, instead of translating it on English, French (which is one of native languages in Belgium also) and some of Asian ones and Russian. Larian is not extra big company they do have to take care what they place as primary. And as was noted before, all of you can talk basic English at least so why would you had difficulties on playing game on English? Just let people at Larian to do this what they are doing gret instead to start translating it on loads of different languages.

I know that it's probably not worth translating the game in the italian language, and while I can play the game in english without too much trouble I still want to let you know that Larian has a very passionate italian fanbase and that an italian translation would be greatly appreciated, especially for those people who may have some trouble with the "not every day" english of the game

I know, trust me, I've spent days discussing on italian forums with people convinced that there's some kind of conspiracy against italian players (as if there aren't other languages, with far more native speaker and players than italian, not being localized) trying to explain that the expenses for localization are actually a big deal for small studios like Larian. I'm just trying to be helpful to all those italian players that can't read english in case there's some hope for others localizations after the release I know we have that for every country, and irony is that often after translation it ends up still used old english version. I still remember how me and friend finally installed first win 95 with windows translated on our language, and got totally lost..... we could not find "start" button...... it said "pocni" and not "start" (plus on our language "pocni" means "begin") after 30 minutes, we reinstalled win 95 on English

Some games have the "strings" in a file so that internationalization can be done by modders... But it's still not that simple, could be nice though... I for one have my mother tongue at launch (it helps for some friends)

Larian isn't small studio. They employ over 130 people, that’s Bethesda Game Studios level. They do voice acting for over 1M words using cast of around 80 actors - those are not some cheap folks, they hire well known actors. Their budget on voice acting is on Bioware's games level. For only small portion of this budget on voice acting they could do 5 additional localizations. If they don't want to do this localizations by themself, they could outsource it e.g. to local publishers.

PS while I do love and Skyrim and Fallout, Larian makes better stuff way to go guys  on great games and respecting your community

Lol, Swen exactly said during Twitch Gamescom stream that 130 people are working on D:OS2. Maybe durig development of D:OS Larian has 40 employees but right now this is big company and D:OS2 look like 100% AAA title. For the first D:OS game Kickstarter was necessary to enhanced game but with D:OS2 it was used mostly for marketing purposes and to engage community in development process, they could do D:OS2 from money which they earned on D:OS (1,5M copies x ~30$ = 45M $ compare this to 2M $ from Kickstarter).

To be fair Larian doesn't have the same budget of Triple A software houses like Bethesda, their best selling games sells for hundreds of thousands while games like Fallout or Skyrim sells for tens of millions, even if the percentage for the italians sales are similar ( around 1,65/2% both for Original Sin and Skyrim) you have to take into account that the 2% of something like 20.000.000 (a game like Skyrim wich is among the first ten best selling video games of all times) isn't exactly the same as the 2% of 500.000 (this is the number of copies they needed to sell in order to get even with the development costs, as stated in Swen blog after the release of the game. The actual sales numbers should be higher). The voice over is a total different matter, while I would have preferred more localizations instead of the voice acting I can't really blame Larian studios for choosing it since it makes the game much more appealing toward the vast majority of players (around 60% if we only take into account the sales for the native eenglish speaking countries)

I take 2/3 of it, I think that is good estimate, but let's say they only have 20$ from one copy, it gives us 1,5M x 20$ = 30M $ - still lots of money. You can't compare D:OS2 with Skyrim. If I would expect that D:OS2 sell as well as Skyrim then I would expect not localization but full voice acting.

They did said that 130 people work on the game, watch on use of words "work on game" not "work in Larian" It is considered and people who are promoting game on shows like Gamescom and similar that they are working "on game" just look on orchestra that was doing music that was almost 30 people and they also "worked on the game" in this kind of jobs there is lots of stuff in tiny words and I doubt that Larian is on same level with finances like one Bethesda (no matter that they make better games  )

Larian as a company has like 40 people doing the coding and such. Then between voice actors, musicians, and so on, hit 120-130. Similarly, they make nowhere near as much money on the game itself. THEN take into accoutn that a large number of those game copies sold were sold as PART OF THE KICKSTARTER. They aren't getting some gigantic wall of money that they're selfishly hoarding (Though to be fair they do -need- a lot of that money to go towards the people who worked ont he game, because people need to be paid for their work), so...

Is hard to believe what I'm reading. Larian has 4 studios in: Ghent (Belgium), Saint-Petersburg (Russia), Quebec City (Canada), Dublin (Ireland). Do you think that in each one of this work only 10 people? 10 people need 2 rooms to work. That would be huge waste of money to rise new studio only to hire few people. 130 people in 4 studios is very reasonable number not counting 80 voice actors and 30 musicians (live orchestra). First Kickstater had 20 000 backers, assume that everyone buy two copies, that's 40 000 copies and according to SteamSpy they sold around 1 500 000 copies of D:OS on Steam. And they are also selling D:OS on GOG, PS4, XBox. Copies sold during Kickstarter are negligible.

Obsidian entertainment have even more employees (around 170), and their last game, Pillars of Eternity was one of the best received games of 2015 (reaching about 4.000.000 dollars in its Kickstarter campaign, four times the amount of money reached by Divinity:Original Sin and two times what was pledged for Original Sin 2) earning toghter with Cities skyline 18.5 millions in three weeks, as stated here http://gamingbolt.com/pillars-of-eternity-cities-skylines-earn-18-5-million-in-three-weeksYet they needed to reach a specific stretch goal in the kickstarter/Fig campaign in order to afford the italian localization (2.2 million dollars for Deadfire). So no, it is not as simple as it can seem (even though it would have been nice if there were additional stretch goals for more localizations) EDIT by the way, I'd like to see more interventions by italian players in this thread, I know for a fact that there's a lot of italians who would greatly appreciate a localization in their native language. Obsidian is very different beast. They work on many projects in parallel (right now 4). Words of Josh Sawyer - Project Director and Lead Designer on Pillars of Eternity - from 2016: "The company has grown and shrunk over time. It’s now a little over 200 people, with most of the developers working on Armored Warfare. The Tyranny team is between 20 and 30 people (I think). The Pathfinder team has less than 10 (again, I think). My team is currently fairly small, about 20 people." So on first PoE works only 20 people. IIRC right now they have about 35 people working on PoE2. PoE is selling worse then D:OS (1,15M copies for PoE and 1,5M for D:OS). PoE have bigger discout during steam sales then D:OS - first 50% discount for D:OS was 21 months after release, for PoE it was 7 months after release. Unlike in Larian, money form PoE have to be shared with Paradox (publisher) and don't go strictly on development of PoE2 but are rather used to support whole Obsidian. My point is that buget and team size of PoE2 is much smaller then D:OS2, despite this PoE2 will have translation to French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Chinese, Korean and Portuguese language. Also I would like to mention that I don't have any interest in italian localization but I would love if they do polish localization like for any other Larian games before

There might not be many of us playing Larian's games, but we could be more, if only we understood the game's "in jokes". Not only that. We have a whole part of our contry that barely speaks our language - Jutland. The deserve a chance to be civilized as well.
I haven't paid for three licenses to have the Italians get their own translation, and then have the Danes left in the gutter.
That said I think every country, apart from the main languages that Larian already does cover, should be able to have their own Kickstarter campaign and collect money enough to pay for sub'ing or text'ing.

This is actually really best solution, cause if smaller companies would had to pay translations for the translations even like 10 or so languages that would cost them really a lot. This is actually perfect solution, to bad that I doubt that it would get implemented

That should be enough. sorry but the problem is not justice, it's another the Italian language is among the most popular in the world and is studied abroad more than German For this reason the translations have always been "multi 4", ie: English, German, French and Italian

Since D:OS is a much more story driven rpg then typical ones, with a lot of text to read and fully understand, I'd be super happy if they include an italian translation.
The first game was beautifully translated by the italian community for free, now it's your turn Larian!

I do not understand: I continue to find my italian friends who buy, even today, the first Original Sin as I see that the second does not sell copies in italy today in Italy the gaming market is worth over one billion euros on steam I find hundreds of thousands of games translated into Italian why is Original sin II not among them?

So,it appears that DOSII has been well received in terms of sells,almost 500000 copies sold! An effort must be done to increase even more that number and let everyone enjoy your game,please larian consider the localization in italian,if you not want to do it by yourself,please contact the ones that did FOR FREE the localization for Original Sin(RPG ITALIA),i'm sure that they will be happy to help you in any way.

Mi sono registrato solo per scrivere in questo POST, Ragazzi è un RPG deve essere chiaro e perfettamente comprensibile, non si può giocare a D&D senza capire nulla o quasi xD che si faccia un FAN SUB o lo fanno loro, qualcosa deve essere fatto, già la gente si rompe le palle a leggere, se fosse parlato in italiano sto gioco sarebbe la fine del mondo. Detto questo, il gioco è uscito, adesso sarebbe bello che la Larian dichiarasse come da loro detto, se verranno sviluppate altre lingue.

ITA or DANISH subs will be ok for me, but i love to play in ENG just to improve my language skills.

Larian, in my opinion you should consider this: may be that the German market is bigger than our but almost the total of them speak a fluent English (so they'll buy the game anyway), Italian market is composed of people that doesn't speak English very well so the priority is translate it Italian because, in proportion, you're loosing more customers.

Some news about additional localizations ? Now German, French and Russian has been added, and i will expected an announcement very soon.
I mean, the game was released, basic languages added, major bugs fixed, i do not know what prevents them from announcing new languages.

Hello to everyone, I would apologize for my bad English. I wanted to join me at this great demand for Italian location. I loved Divinity Original Sin, like me many of my friends, but this was only possible because it was localized in Italian. Tomorrow I will finally buy my copy of Divinity Original Sin 2 but I will not enjoy it because I have a mastery of English really bad, because I love this title, I buy it equally, hoping to be localized, but I know many and repeat, many other people , here in my city, (Rome) who are looking forward to buying their Divinity Orginal Sin 2 too, but unfortunately they will not do so until the Italian location has arrived. Please, Larian announces this location, here in Italy we really are many to love your work and unfortunately without our language many of us will not buy it or worse yet they will not enjoy it and understand it well, risking to ruin the experience. I know my post will not make a difference, but I really hope that everyone who is writing here and on Steam requesting the Italian language in the game will be heard. Awaiting the Italian location. Domani finalmente acquisterò la mia copia di Divinity Original Sin 2 purtoppo però non potrò godermela perchè ho una padronanza della lingua inglese veramente pessima, siccome adoro questo titolo, lo acquisto ugualmente, nella speranza che venga localizzato, ma conosco molte e ripeto, molte altre persone, qui nella mia città , (Roma) che non vedono l'ora di acquistare anche loro Divinity Orginal Sin 2 ma purtroppo non lo faranno finche non sarà arrivata la localizzazione italiana. Perfavore, Larian annuncia questa localizzazione, qui in Italia siamo veramente in molti ad amare il vostro lavoro e purtroppo senza la nostra lingua molti di noi non lo acquisteranno o peggio ancora non potranno gustarlo e capirlo bene, rischiando quindi di rovinarsi l'esperienza. First of all, thanks for DOS2. It's simply Amazing, but i sincerely hope that you will proceed with italian translation. All of us actually look at DOS2 with great satisfaction, with this translation the game will become EPIC, simply EPIC. I have a lot of friends in the order of 15/20 waiting for the translation, as it become real they will buy the title immediatly. PLEASE LARIAN TRASLATE DOS2 IN ITALIAN. Obviously, i support all other localizations, like spanish, danish...ecc...

Hello everybody; I like so much the first Divinity Original Sin and I'm in love for the second, so much that I buyed it also if the game isn't localized in italian, unfortunately my english isn't very good and for this I can't understand the story at 100%. I would say a personal thing, no offense; maeby, we are a little part of the buyers and this don't increment the buisness or not improve so much your earnings, but I think that the game and the story must to be understanding for everybody, because every part of this game it's possible also for our little contribute, so please please please Larian add the italian localizzation and so also us can played this game in total involvement. Unfortunately, there will never be as many people interested like in the united states or other major European countries, but interested people who want to buy the title there are and are also looking forward to. Numbers say the italian market is absolutely abysmal for RPGs (and for anything that isn't FIFA, COD or Assassin's Creed, really). Our marker in this genre is so bad we are outmatched even by other European countries with a far lower population.

The market will also speak plain but there is also to say that if a title is not localized from the beginning, sales will surely be even lower, especially in a country like ours (I'm really sorry to say) is very ignorant, the problem is definitely the basis, in Italy a few people love to read books accordingly a genre such as crpgs that rely heavily on text reading, are certainly not among the most popular titles. But the situation is not so bad, personally in my city there are and I know many people who love this kind of games that they have bought and are expecting to buy Divinity Original Sin 2 and I'm also noticing these days which discusses the subject on various forums and Italian sites, many young people who want to get close to this wonderful genre and believe that with a title like Divinity Original Sin 2 there would be no better way to approach it. Unfortunately, however, if securities are getting less and less localized, it will be more and more difficult to engage the younger ones, either because of our weird school system that does not fit the English requirement, either because of lack of possibilities or for laziness, do not know the tongue. As I see it I also have to say that if a company hopes or wants to sell it as much as possible it has to try to fit in contexts where it usually does not sell a lot, maybe trying to invest a minimum, maybe even looking for alternative solutions (such as such as fan support, especially after the first title has been localizated by fans at cost 0, thus allowing economic return). Obviously far from me criticizing Larian's choices, or trying to impose my thoughts in an arrogant way, I'm just answering you because you're partially right, but the situation is not so terrible and we were certainly not in 10 to buy the game, so you can only improve. Unfortunately we all know the problem that has led to the lack of localization in our language, I find it useless and out of place to continue to emphasize it, especially if this page is dedicated to those who hope to make Larian change their mind.
