They hardly messed with the game code, they used a debug command to spawn the item in their inventory.
See that as a cheat code rather, and they could do that with any items in the game, special edition, kickstarter things. So that's not an indicator.

But I don't think this is a kickstarter item either otherwise they would have specified it.


Yea well they had to hurry things up because of stream I am not surprised.
But you are right, never ever did they mentioned that mask is kickstarter bonus so I doubt that they would change that without saying anything
