Classes are pointless, you chose the class for the kind of starter weapon, you want to have and change the skills as you want them to be.
Regarding the armor system, you probably should go either full physical or full magical team, because a classical mixed team gets screwed, for example: warrior, rogue, archer & sup-mage.
