Hey all,

I'm not sure if anyone will be able to confirm this without the GM Mode being accessible, but I have two scenarios that I think would be interesting to create and I was wondering if it would be possible in this GM Mode:

1) Each PC starts at a different point within the same or different map. This sort of narrative technique is great for creating cinematic openings with each PC or even simulating the party forming for the first time. Is it possible to control each PC's spawning location?

2) Let's say I wanted to recreate something like the Resident Evil 7 demo as a one-shot. The first rule of horror is to be sorely outmatched by the horrors you face. So, is it possible to set each PCs starting inventory and skills prior to the campaign that way everyone isn't starting the campaign being fully-outfitted?

Cheers!

P.S. Shout out to Eldarth, Red, and MadHatter. I recognize you guys from the SCL forum days.

Yo @Enigmaze there are a couple of scl vets around indeed smile
1: All PCs must be on the same map. I am not sure about spawning locations, but you could always pause the game and seperate the party.
2: You can do anything you like with or to characters and that includes giving or taking equipment and skills.

True, I did not think of that lol. I suppose I was approaching this setup more from a tabletop perspective and simply assumed that people would default to cooperative play XD

Thanks for the reply!

Ok...let's just suppose that you really wanted to give each PC their 2 minutes of fame for whatever reason. Is it possible to have everyone on the same map, but only allow certain PCs to interact with said map (to avoid having others just walking around screwing up said PC's scenes with random shenanigans that only players can dream up)?

Also, is it possible for the DM to visit other maps apart from whatever the party may be doing? For example, let's say party decides to explore a trapdoor in a house, but you hadn't actually thought of what might be down there. Would it be feasible for you to create, say, a "mini cellar" without negatively effecting the game's pacing?

I don't think you can stop players from interacting unless you pause the game or set them to something like a sleep status, or of course just tell them not to.

I am not sure if you, the GM can be working with another level than the one the players are in.
I don;t know if you have seen this:

It's very informative.

It was mentioned in the Q&A for the Undead stream that you cannot edit/create maps on the fly. You can add creatures and do a lot of modifications to existing layouts but for purposes like that you'd have to stop, create the new zone, and re-enter the game.

You could also just create a bunch of small maps beforehand that you can load up as generic dungeon areas to explore, just replacing whatever creatures/items you need in them on the fly.

Not directly, but you can apply status effects to the players that effectively lead to this. You also might be able to make disjoint areas of the map or areas that are in-escapable, and you can drag the people you don't want acting into those locations. Or just rely on people being good smile

Yeah, I was mainly trying to think of ways to avoid repeating the scenarios that happened in the GM Mode Preview Stream with Mercer and company: players ignoring what you're saying and just running rampant, pillaging everything, etc. Was hoping for a more elegant solution than the awkward "Game Pause." But it'll just take some getting used to, I'm sure.

EDIT: Formatting

Another random thought: is it possible to disjoint the party? You know how in the main campaign you can drag an avatar off to the side to "break the chain" that ties everyone together? Can the GM do that in GM Mode? If you could, I think it would add to the realism of "Initiative": rogue sneaks into a room 3 corridors down while the party twiddles their thumbs...but the rogue lands himself in serious trouble. Now the rogue must survive while his party sits idly by....can he alert them in time? Dun dun dun
