Suppose there's an oil puddle on the ground and I use ignite. The enemy will take fire damage from my ignite, but I believe they also take damage from the oil igniting. Is this explosion affected by INT / spell damage?

I'm asking the same question with regards to poison. If I fire a poison dart at a fire surface and it explodes, did this explosion scale with my INT / spell damage?

I don't have the EA installed atm so anyone willing to test this would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to know this information because I don't think it's worth putting any points into INT as a Summoner, as your Summons deal most of your damage and I can just ignite / explode surfaces if I need to.

Damage directly caused by you is affected by your talents, stats, skills, build, etc. Damage that comes from a surface interaction is based upon your level. I have tried and tried and tried to see if there is anything to increase surface damage and nothing I've done can reliably show any difference. It may also be that we don't have enough skill points to actually make a difference at low level, but there will be at higher level. I can 100% say that your level effects how much damage is taken from surfaces.

Great info, thank you. So it seems surface damage scales with levels but isnt affected by your own abilities, which is nice if youre not heavily invested in INT.

Yeah, I think there are several builds which can prove to be very useful where in you dump your dmg+% attribute points and combat skills for the sake of spreading out your combat skills and over-investing in memory so that you'll have a character who's always spending AP on very useful CC/buff/environmental effects

I don't think my testing was as exhaustive as Concarne's from the sounds of it, but I did test (and reasonably conclude) that int had no effect on the damage of a poison surface created by a character in the latest alpha version.
What I did was cheat engine my int from 10 to 42 after hitting lv2 and the damage of a poison surface created by wands and spell were both the same amount of damage at 42int lv2 as 10int lv2

So, perhaps that gives sufficient insight into,
