How could anyone dislike diablo >one<. I mean i dont relaly like 2, but 1 was just amazeing... I spent a solid year playing that game. Now i gues if you just try to play it then yeah, its probibly gona seem borieng. But diablo wasnt a game that you played, it was a game that you >experianced<~ Take variants for example, you could obsess over cursed items and create a sorcerer who only wore stat decreaseing items! The person with the worst equipment is obvioulsy the best!.. or you could play a warrior who ignored armor all togeather and only used precise tactical movement to win.. or a gopher=P a charicter who only played in full zoom mode and hence, could only see things if they where attacking it. Or playing dark. Getting enough negative light radious items to make everything totaly dark, then useing infravision to navigate through the game totaly untouched. Not as easy as it sounds, you cant see where your going when its that dark, you had to basicly play blind=P In short, diablo was not a game, it was a entertainment medium. It provided you with the basis to build up any number of your own forms of enjoyment, becaus of its total lack of set anything, it was probibly the most open ended game iv ever played. And it had a good story, im tired of people used to being hand fed story through un-avoidable npc conversations critisizeing the highly dificult passive story telling. Throw out all the main charicters, create a complicated plot useing only common townpeople's passing comments on the world about them, then have a few events take place for the player to witniss.
The more detail you put into it, the easyer it is to spot the flaws.
Anyway who am i? Hehe... several months ago, i posted on the old forums for about a day, hopeing to get this game. I found out it would be pretty much impossable for me to get here so i gave up *wasnt gona wate the usual 2 months it takes 'overnight' shipping to deliver things=P*. But rejoice! For just not a few days ago i found a lone coppy of divinity sitting upon the shelf of a local retail store! I was convinced i would never ever see the game at all. And in a fit of joy i picked up it and forgot totaly what i went to the store for, locked myself in my room, then after quite some time, i blacked out. Woke up and decided i would do a bit of reading before i continue=p But i just had to defend one of the best games of all time, diablo 1. And that coments based upon the face that back when i started playing it, it was new enough to keep playing even tho it sucked. Its one of those games you gota play a few months beore you realise how amazeing it is=P
Oh, and whoever quit diablo2... asmuch as i dont like it, it was still ok to mess around with. All blizard games have a sertant quality about them where its clear that even if you dont like it, a whole lot of time was put into makeing it and youd probibly have to be insane to objectivly look at the game and compare it with other games OF THE SAME TYPE and say that its infirior. Thats enough for me to appreciate all of them=P, anyway, act3 is really bad.. act1 is probibly the best act of that whole game, but 3 is the worst=x dont judge the game on act3 and the poorly designed lay out of.. everything=p
Anyway, I like divinity, the only things i dont like about it as its not diablo-ish enough *the quests are linier, the game world isnt, meaning they dont match up verry well*.. so the first poster.. will probibly love it=P And its probibly the best game iv goten in a good long time, and im happy i got it instead of my bag of doritos and fabric softenr wich i went to the store for...
