Hello !

Playing in Classic and I'm scratching my head about the enemy's stats.

My main is a knight wearing sewn scale gear, and at level 6 he's 57/18 armour and 154 hp. The lvl 6 warrior skelettons in the blinded guy (Loke) ambush have something like 150/80 armour and 200 hp. The archer is 40/60 with 170 hp. They also hit harder than me (my 2H guy hit for about 30-40, their for 40-50).
I remember that other foes like the salamanders also had much more hp than my characters.

AFAIK, it's the Tactician mode which has inflated stat for enemies. So is it just that some enemies are outliers with big stat, that I have missed all good gear, or just that even in Classic the game rely on putting massive stat in regular foes ?

Enemies have good stat even because they rarely wear anything so the game just make them scale on level heavily. Just check it out in GM mode, they have ridiculous stat by default as if they're wearing a bunch of scaled white gears. However, if your char is wearing any magical gears that are on their levels, he/she will have much higher stats than them.

So for a char to be level 6 and deal that kind of damage, you're clearly using undergeared weapon. When I was level 7 with Ifan crossbow, 18 finesse and some warfare + Huntsman gear, highground shots from my archer was dealing 70+ a shot in Tactical.

Meh, so I only have a choice between a mode where they have artificially lowered stat and the mode where they have mindlessly adjusted stat on their level without any verisimilitude compared to what stat they SHOULD have ?
Pretty disappointed about that. Seems that every "RPG" these days is about applying level-based formula rather than having internal consistency. Bleh.

And where the hell is the "on-level gear" if mine is supposed to be that subpar ? Am I supposed to reload on every chest until I get some random good items or is it hidden in secret passages ?

The best items, mainly weapons, I normally got from traders (the undead one). Loot is sadly so hard randomized, that items often have useless stats on them.

Traders restock every hour and every level up if I'm not mistaken.

Also, the AP seem completely ridiculous, and considerably higher for foes than your own guys.
For example, in the Deep Dweller ambush (seriously, is there only ever ambushes in the game ?), I have another skeletton which is able, in a single turn, to walk a few steps to a ladder, go up the ladder, walk another few steps, cast Ice Shard, attack with both wands and then cast frost armour. Just how many AP does it requires, and how come I don't have that much ?
