Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems Black Screen

I installed your Divine Divinity game and then applied the latest patch. Started playing it. Everything went well. Then all of a sudden when I went to reload a save after going out of the game, I now have a problem with a black screen when I change levels in the catacomb. I was at level 2 and when I clicked on the floor tile to go back into that area, I got a black screen but the automap changed. When I clicked on the stair in NW corner to go into the next level, I got a black screen. I never had this problem before.


I also noticed now that when I start the DD game, after the movings, while things are loading I get a quick flashing of the screen. I don't remember this before either.


I have a Generic computer with a AMD Athlon at 1.4 ghz, 512 DDR, Asus motherboard (updated drivers), Win. 98SE (updated and using DirectX 8.1), video board is Matrox G450 (latest drivers). SCSI CD-Rom.


The games I've played with no problem, include Dungeon Siege, Gothic and Morrowind.


I'm open to suggestions?? Should I un-install and re-install the game and patch? Should I try a re-install overlay of both?

Do you get a black screen as in the fog of war has to be re-cleared, or as in just a black screen? If the latter, check that your caps lock / num lock keys are not enabled.
