I've had this problem on several maps, where doors cannot be placed in door frames. I've even duplicated doors in matching frames and tried to place them in their empty counterpart to no avail. Could there be a button to turn on a "I don't care about collision, just let me put stuff wherever" mode?

There is, but unfortunately only in the editor tool. If you want to seriously modify maps, then mastering it is the only choice. Just note that you don't have to implement the maps from scratch all the time. You could use the same level templates as in GM mode and adjust them the way you want.

Ah. I am someone likely to never use the editor. Not really in my skill set. I guess I was hoping for the in game creation system to be more intuitive.

I've found that after you place an item, you can move it to another place with less colission restrictions. That usually work for doors, place them outside their frame, and then move them into their frame. :)

Nope. I used to be a QA tester, so I sometimes get a little overzealous in my testing of broken or un-optimized things. I tested every level that came with the game. The only level That allows for doors properly in frames is the Dungeon Prison A. While yes, you can jimmy-rig a door once it is placed to be kinda near the frame, but it is very much popped out on one of the sides. A door that can almost-just-barely-but-not-quite be put in a door frame is not the same as a door that just fits in a frame. It is not very hard to make happen, and I am frankly surprised at the lack of polish from Larian. Don't get me wrong, I love this game to pieces, and I only bother criticizing things that are already good, and have potential to be better.

You gotta use the editor to make it look right, man.

GMAddon1: Adds almost every single monster and NPC from the main campaign into GM mode, plus a few large custom maps to use in GM mode.

Yes, by all means lets rely on the community to do work that should be done by devs. The issue is that most community mods will not be very polished. The very mod you reference states in its description that models may not work or be buggy. In the case of devs, especially Larian, these bugs would get fixed eventually. However, with community modders, who knows if they'll ever get fixed. The fact of the matter is that a system that was promised to be quick, easy, and intuitive is not really any of those things to a polished degree. I can totally work with whats there, and try out some community made stuff, but I have a very busy life and do not have time to learn the skills that go into modding software like the editor.

For now it's bonus content to the game. The game already delivers a lot for a low price.
GM mode will get better with time, and the community will release level and asset packs regularly.

I'm glad the option is in the game.
