So, entirely independent of how mind blowingly stupid it is that these hand-rails are neck high and block LOF at all, what is happening in this picture is unacceptable.

https://imgur.com/9Pv6y02

If the game is going to have blocking of LOS and LOF by complex objects, AKA the gap in the neck-high handrail/wall, the results of whatever calculations it is doing need to make sense. This picture does not make sense.

Either make it work, or only have blocking of LOS/LOF by solid square large objects. In between is totally un-fun and almost makes me not want to play.

To be clear in the above picture, I had just spent an action point taking the smallest possible step to the right. Why? Because where I was before, I had LOS, but my LOF was blocked by the wall.

When I moved, I lost LOS. Even though just looking at the damn picture, you can see that if anything the target is MORE in the center of the gap in the rail.

Seriously, this system needs work. Maybe before you got the whole game voice acted you should have gotten basic mechanics working....

I had magisters hitting me with a sword while i was standing above them on the higher ground and wasnt able to hit them with melee weapons. - In the prison dungeon fight where you learn about escape route from a wounded magister.

Enemies regularly shoot through smoke but i cannot.

And they can hit me with ranged attacks from lower ground while i cant target them from the higher ground.
Same position, no moving around.

Another example of how totally off base the system is - I can hit either of these enemies with battle stomp, but not both of them...

Something needs to be totally redesigned about how these things are being calculated that this is possible.

I'm in Act 1 here and I'm getting really close to the point of just closing the game and checking if anything has been fixed in six months.

It probably is just beyond hope, if they didn't have anyone smart/competent enough to do this right the first time, they probably still don't have anyone smart enough to make it better, and they're not going to go out and hire skilled programmers to totally redesign an aspect of a game they already made their money off of.

There seems to be a huge issue around the fact, that the map is in reality 2D and not 3D. AI can some ignore 'heights' often. Same goes for the turtle on the beach, if you stand on top of the ship wreak.

This ranger just ended his turn by shooting me twice (through the battlements), but I can't see/shoot through battlements, so I just get to die instead. Super fun Larian. Good job. I have now quit the game. We'll see where it's at next summer. Good luck.

I thought the big turtle can reach me because its huge....
Similar thing happens with Crocs if you stand on the wooden platform and one gets close bellow you.

Also, judge Orivand can turn that prisoner elf into a silent Monk even if i sneak close and teleport her into his chamber, behind a wall and then close the doors and put some furniture so she cant get out.
He hits her with that Source vampirism spell through the wall...

She does turn hostile if i teleport her, and if i let her get out of his chamber she fights the character that teleported her, - dies - all just next to the judge, while the rest of team is still stealthed-sneaking. Orivand and other magisters never notice the elf disappeared right infornt of their eyes, or that she is fighting someone just a few meters to the right of him, in front of his chamber. He continues talking like nothing changed at all.

If i then start the fight with the Orivand he still tries to turn her into a Silent Monk, only she is dead, so she just kind of flails/flops on the ground for a second, tries to stand up and then figures out she is dead and returns to being dead.

I already wrote about that hard coded "dramatic moment" during Ea.
You literally cannot do anything to prevent or break that "scene". Even if you teleport her all the way out of the fort, the game itself just puts her back into starting position.

I hear ya dude, but this is a video game, not DnD, there are limitations to how open ended it can be.

I'm willing to accept that sort of thing in the game, not willing to accept this completely ridiculous LOS crap.

To Larian - I am going to keep annoying the Steam people with refund requests every day until I either get my refund, forget about this, or you reply to this thread saying you will fix this nonsense.

I really had very high hopes for this game, which is why I care to make an issue of this, and I'd still give it a C- even with this while almost every other game I've tried in years (exceptions being EU4 and FTL) gets a D or worse. But I'm not going to waste my time playing a game that isn't at least B quality. You'd get a B+ if you fix this issue, not getting an A unless you clean up the various bugs that I've read about but won't encounter until I play the game again.

Low standards by video game purchasers are really a problem. I really should have pirated this one before I bought it, but I had misplaced optimism apparently. I hope Steam gives me my money back.

I never expect or think a computer RPG can emulate PnP. I am willing to turn a blind eye to such moments in the game too. But they have to be made convincingly enough in turn.

Which this event isnt.

Its a different subject but i only mentioned it because during it you can literally see Orivand shooting his beam of derp through the walls - in addition to other fabulous "reactions" such as not being able to notice someone teleported that elf away right in front of him and other magisters.

- teleport should never have been made available that early. And OR it should be inapplicable on anyone with magic armor too.

Yeah that is true about Teleport, they have to give it to you because you can't fight through the gate without grinding more, because it would have been totally unrealistic to let you just knock/pull the ladder down with some attack or a rope or something (sarcasm).

Teleport definitely should be blocked by magic armor. It's by far the strongest ability you have in combat for all of act 1, probably still would be if it were blocked by magic armor.

Hey Larian, you guys working on this yet? About to ask Steam for a refund again.

Out of curiousity... You say you rate this game poorly, what games recently have you considered good? To me this is thebest rpg I have played since planescape torment/baldur's gate era.... but, to each their own.
