I address the spear because it is the weapon i prefer to choose and use the most.
It is a Finesse based weapon and i don't have a problem with that, but it seems to be in a weird spot as it is a bit unsure how one should build around it, does one just go for "another" Warfare build?
Finesse based skill schools are Warfare (attribute scales with weapon type) and Scoundrel skills, which scales on Finesse and perhaps Huntsman.
The problem with Scoundrel is that most skills are restricted to Dagger, while Warfare can be used with almost any type of weapon except a couple of shield skills.
Please consider some Finesse schools that are not restricted to just dagger, otherwise it wouldn't have much sense to have Spear as a finesse based weapon.
Polymorph damage skills favores Strength... so what is left there other than a Warfare focused build? The only other thing left could be to switch between bow/crossbow and spear, but i don't see it working in later parts of the game where enemies gets tougher and requires you to have a decently focused damage build in order to keep up.
Currently i'm running a 50/50 Finesse and Constitution build with a couple of points in Necromancy (for some lifesteal and skills), Scoundrel (early Cloak & Dagger + movement & crit damage and Adrenaline if needed) and then Warfare.
Talents are The Pawn, Opportunist (becoming obsolete due to enemies getting more and more escaping mechanics as the game progresses) and Picture of Health with Warfare as main leveling school.
Also, hopefully there will be unique or quality spears to be found in later parts of the game, they don't seem to be loot friendly. Other than Braccus' Spear i had to buy a magic one from a weapon merchant as upgrade.

Some nitpicking:
-I don't like how lizards wield spears in combat, they look like they are carrying a stick around.
-As it was also mentioned in another post from another user, please consider spear+shield to be a possibility.
