Larian Studios Forums Divinity: Original Sin 2 Divinity - Original Sin 2 - Bugs & Technical Problems Stuck on reapers coast loading screen.

Got to act two yesterday, (reapers coast) explored the island alittle bit, got to the main town saved and went to bed. Woke up this morning and i am unable to load the save, gets right near the end and then just doesnt load anymore. Game doesnt crash or anything it just doesnt load. I can load other older saves that arent on reapers coast but as soon as i get to the part where i go on the island it stops working.

I have been on the island before and it worked fine so it isnt my pc specs being bad or anything like that (i have a high end computer anyway).

Anyone? been unable to play the game for a day now. Had no word back from any of the forums or help sections.

I'm having the same problem. I'm playing online coop with my friend and the game was running fine until I got to Reaper's Coast.

When I try to load a save it takes forever and when it loads the game is stuttering so much that is unplayable.

Today's patch did not fix it for me :(

same problem as urcle, latest patch did nothing for me, still the same crash at 75% load...

I'm having the same problem as well. The map loaded fine the first time I got to the Reaper Coast, even reached Driftwood and all was well.

When I started it today I cant load the save file (always stuck at " loading reaper coast" around 70%)
The latest patch did not help.

Could not find any solution in the forums/Steam community. Any help would be appreciated

I'm unable to play my save and it's clear that it's happening to a lot of people, let's hope Larian is fixing the issue

A full reinstall fixed my problems, if you guys haven't tried that please do. I think the hotfix in the update just didn't apply to our games correctly or something, the reinstall corrected it. Worth a try at least.

Hey guys just wanna give an update. I can actually get the game to load my save it's just that it takes A LOT of time (almost 10 mins) to load the save for the first time. This might be the savegame bug that's been posted on other threads.
I'm redownloading right now, hopefully it fix the problem.

Do any of you have mods enabled through the mods menu?

Do any of you have base override mods in the Data folder?

I would imagine that base override mods are problematic because the game has to override very large datasets, even if only a few things are changed.

I found that converting my base override mods to actual mods reduced my loading times significantly, as in enough to play. "Continue" is still pretty slow to start, even if I'm just loading into The Hold at 0h5m, but at least it completes loading.

Yes I do have a mod installed (the faster running speed). Not sure what base override mod is. Does this count as one?

How do you exactly convert to "actual mods"? Please Help

First day play was fine, second day I can't load at all.


It's frustrating that my friend play pirated version without trouble.

Wanted to come back here and let all know that what wulphy mentioned above, a FULL reinstall (completely delete old folder and reinstall fresh) did the job. It was a problem with the install I guess.
