Tactician Mode is way too overtuned. Every damn fight I can't avoid, takes me 2-3 hours of reloading saves in hopes I may get a lucky break and win the fight. Now I'm out of luck. I'm at the Flenser, I only have Autosaves from way back and every other save I have is at some other stage of that particular fight.
I've now spent more than 3 hours at that fight, it always ends with my utter annihilation and I have no desire to start the game over.
To my surprise, you cannot turn down difficulty at Tactician Mode.
Whoever came up with that idea needs his head examined.
Please do something about it. This particular limitation doesn't make any sense at all, it only makes our experience at DOS2 miserable.

Quite so wink

You need to make your own saves.

There's a reason you can't turn down the difficulty, and the reason is because if you turn it down, you didn't beat it on Tactician. I ran in to the same problem: shitty, non-optimal builds, ran out of XP, hard stuck in the dungeons. Time to head back to the drawing board.

Figure out what is getting you ruined in fights, and restart with a stronger build/composition. The entirety of Fort Joy can't take more than a few hours at most for someone who knows the area, which I would imagine you do at this point.

If there is an option to turn down the difficulty at a later date, it absolutely needs to be a one-way road. If you drop it down, you stay down.

Edit: autocorrect

Agreed. I am not demanding to be able turn difficulty back up again once I've chosen the easier path. I am now way past Fort Joy and every encounter I have at Reapers Coast is worse than the last. Enemy armour and damage scales up dramatically, sometimes with opponents literally one-shotting me, while my damage scales up very little by way of comparison. Every fight I engage I have to save even the most miniscule success and reload dozens of times resulting in fights that take 3-4 hours each if indeed I am able to beat my opponents at all. Its starting to drain the fun out of the game for me, seriously and I most certainly will not start over after 45+ hours.

Tactician mode is considered overtuned by many people, but...

You are not using saved games properly at all. Use manual saving for Lucian's sake. Save often - MANUALLY. Don't just only use quicksaves and try to faceroll your way through.

It's disappointing how so many game devs these days think that 'difficult' simply means 'overtuned enemies, undertuned players'.

Enemies are not overturned in Tactician Mode, if anything they die way too fast as the game progresses. The problem is the non hand holding nature of the quests that messes up with a lot of players.

Act2 for example, a lot player run straight up north where they would encounter level 13,14 enemies when they are only level 9 or 10. They would die a lot and complain the game is too hard. If they talk to everyone in town, quests should take them west level 10-11 area, or east level 11-12 area, then further east level 12-13, then northwest level 13-14, northeast level 14-15. You will have no problem killing anything if you follow these directions. You will probably over leveled if you do every quests and everything will become very easy because gear stats doubled every 2 levels.

I use manual saving. A lot. Had to learn that the hard way. And I'm not asking for any kind of handholding either. I enjoy that you have to find your own way around. That's what makes the game so special and immersive. When I accidentally stumble upon opponents 2-3 levels above me I don't complain the game is too hard I just get the hell out of there. It is when I am fighting opponents at the same level or slightly below me and even they beat the crap out of me, deal 2-3 times as much damage, have more than twice my amount of life and armour, that I get rather cranky and wish I could tune down difficulty or wish for a better balanced experience.

Oh yeah, i have the exact same feeling about Tactician difficulty. Ennemies with +50% Hp, 50% Physical AND Magical armor, +50% damage, is way too high. The damage spikes are ridiculous, and every fight i did took me hours to success.
The early game especially is pretty hard, since you start totally naked.
I installed a Mod called "Easier tactician mode" or something like that, wich tuned down a bit the stat increase from mob. 20% instead of 50%.
The game is way more enjoyable like this, but sadly i wont unlock any success anymore. Well, when i see some mods available, i understand why they did this, but a single option like Reducing the difficulty would have been good. Still, now that i've found some stuff, i've had some fight i found easy even with +20% bonus. But i know things will change soon :)
