So when you get down beneath Arx cathedral you find Lucian's tomb, but... Lucian is very much alive and kicking. Or rather, sitting in his chair until he gets up to fight you; But...
Can someone explain to me what the deal with that is? Why is there a need for a new divine if Lucian is still there and still largely able to 1v1 the 'real' final boss? Was he behind killing sorcerers / godwoken, or was he swindled by Rex through Dallis who was too dumb to see through it?
I'm genuinely confused about those things. Can someone explain them to me? It's made worse by how if you choose the 'divine' endings other than ascension the ending cinematic still says that he unites the world and leads all races in a successful war against the void.
As a sidenote, it is cool to meet the tyrant king foreshadowed in the 1st chapter, but I do think it was a little bit cheap from a purely story-telling perspective. If no one stays dead for long (cough alexander) it genuinely takes something away from the story. Not much. But the whole thing honestly reminds me of when WoW jumped the shark with Kael'Thas in a similar manner.
I did enjoy the story overall but I would really like some thoughts on the whole Lucian situation!
