Yeah, this discussion is proof that the quest is actually a great one. Perhaps one that could have used a slightly more satisfying ending for option #2, but this right here is what RPGs should be about.
That said, I'm pretty certain the cook ONLY uses magisters as ingredients. I don't remember coming across any other corpses, or evidence to the contrary, neither written nor oral; my memory fails me a bit but didn't the cook even admit to specifically murdering magisters? I agree it's not the nicest thing to feed them to unsuspecting customers (ahem), but the alternative of potentially providing the spark that pushes the magisters over the edge into a full-blown pogrom of elves and source users is not terribly attractive either. I mean they're almost there already. You look like you could be a source user? Burn the witch. Eh, I mean, hang her by the thumb first and let her dangle for a while. Then collar her like a pet and take her to that concentration camp lovingly called Fort Joy. Where she'll be turned into a mindless abomination. For the greater good. *vigorous nodding*
