Grats on beating the encounter, Geala. It's funny how perceptions can differ, I had absolutely no trouble with the oil blobs but the fire blobs were giving me nightmares at the end.
Re: Hostility of magisters: I don't know how it works. All magisters were immediately hostile to me, but I was able to force a conversation by sneaking around and then teleporting one of my characters into the vicinity of the White Magister at the very top. That forced a conversation and made all magisters in the vicinity neutral instead of hostile.
