I can respond to my own question if anyone is interested. I did already have some rather good gear on my tank by the time I got the full set. Granted the set added 60% armor, but he was already far from squishy. The other extras were very minor, at the price of diversity. I can't swap one piece for the occasional +telekinesis or +persuasion. Plus, I can't add one better item because the curse will be back, you'll have to change the whole set. This set shouldn't be one's main goal.
