Noctro: I was simply responding to other's criticisms of my argument, It's called communication. I have, several times, steered conversation back towards how what I am saying directly relates to the game. Again, since everything is related (everyone loves Einstein, no one accepts his words out of other's mouths) I was merely presenting logical evidence to support the facts I was stating about the specific topic of DOS2, specifically its GM mode.

I'm not a huge fan of "...that you probably didn't read". Sir/Mam/preferred pronoun, with all due respect I have been pursuing higher education; mostly science, sociology, economics, linguistics, and communication; probably longer than you have been alive. I am well aware of how communication works, and would never respond without interpretation and extrapolation, which requires active listening/reading. Here we are, once again, straying from the topic, but I call people on their crap, especially when a poor communicator attempts to call me a poor communicator. Please do not be rude, please attempt to understand that there are people in the world who probably know more than you about any given thing, and please educate yourself on logic, reasoning, debate, and basic communication before you insult someone so blatantly. It's the internet, there are no faces, no non-visual ques, no tones of voice, but it is really communication. Unhealthy communication is a root cause of many problems, and I know the American (western, really, but Americans are raised this way in particular) reaction to some one telling you that you are/have done wrong is deflection (usually violent, IE: the passive aggressive "...that you probably didn't read") But please always consider that you are addressing another human being, and that person may actually know what they are talking about.

So, as much as I truly love educating people (and I genuinely mean this, I am not being sarcastic), and even though closing off an argument is usually in poor taste, I think we should get back to what this thread was originally intended towards. QA-ing GM mode and compiling a list of things that should be Larian's responsibility to fix/add, as opposed to modders. Cool mods are great, but a different mod idea/announcement thread would be more appropriate for them.

Mordred. Just fuck off will ya. I can't talk for the rest here, but I think most agree with me.

If you need to bring up your so called education to get your point across, it's not worth listening to.

Bit late for backtracking now that you've repeatedly derailed your own thread. So even though readers might agree with the OP, it's become something else entirely and no one wants to touch it anymore.

God forbid people use empirical evidence to support their claims! Additionally, look at all the deflection going on here. Heck, Leverloos entire post can be boiled down to "I disbelieve". Congratulations kids, most people pay good (entirely too much really, but hey that's American schools for you) money to take my classes. I hope you all learned something, though I am disappointed there were no gold stars. You all go out there and continue to defy the wrong authority and follow along with the BS you're fed by an unhealthy society like the good little sheeple you are. Class dismissed.

Look man bottom line is that if you want discussion you're gonna have to be less toxic.

Semi-lost art, unfortunately. I could give a big diatribe about the reasons but this is not the time or place for a lengthy solliloquiy (*cough* Capitalism) about how the world works. It is a combo of entitlement, neckbeardism (which is rampant in gaming communities), and general lack of grace/manners in society.

Anyways! Be that as it may, I agree that without some "juice" this latent GM mode which could be SOOOO much more will be another Sword Coast Legends debacle. I also think if the issue is resource / hours / capital they could do another round of funding with a mini-kick and secure plenty enough to build this out as a separate project.

Larian, if you'd like assistance I have 20 years in complex IT project mgmt, I'll send you my resume. hehe

There is a HUGE niche with the highly graphical Virtual TableTop that nobody seems to have been able to fill since 2001 (NWN) and that is sort of insane if you think about it.

I'll second this. I'm a game dev (programming & QA) with five years of AAA experience and two more as an indie dev. Having a truly top-notch VTT has been a dream for a while now but I'm happy to put in some work to make it happen!

You guys had this as your major stretch goal for a reason. You know the demand is out there and I'm sure the technical hurdles preventing the GM tools from being incredible are not trivial but I sincerely believe better GM Tools could give this game longevity on the level of Skyrim (and beyond).

I'm already talking to industry friends of mine in other disciplines about how good of a start the current GM tool is: exceptionally easy to use, the UX for GM is simply phenomenal and doesn't get nearly enough credit, item and NPC editing is as easy as it possibly can be, and tossing objects and NPCs into maps are equally simple.

On the flip side I'm digging into the Divinity Engine 2 (which is also great, but lacks in documentation) because of the GM Tool's shortcomings but I dream of the day when we can roll NPCs with the ease of rolling items (set a level and type), support more than 4 players, possess Encounters (rather than single NPCs) roll new characters in an active session and so on.

I don't expect things like terrain editing to ever come to the GM Tool (because the maps would need to be recompiled to update AI pathing) but maybe you'll pull rabbit out of your hat and magic some other extra-cool customization options in like adding the wall tool to GM.

In closing thank you for the already very cool GM Tool and I'll be eagerly anticipating your team revisiting it in the future.
