As far as I can see the most powerful char round here is you BG. Teleportation, almost magical immunity, strength, flying etc.

I guess it is a game after all. I apologize for my confusing and presumptive posts, and hope you all can forgive me. I just don't think I can continue to participate in the present genre. And, Womble is right about BeeGee being too powerful. I guess I got caught up in the greedfest, and forgot to govern my appetites.

I think it best if BeeGee joins the outcasts. Please carry on without BeeGee.

In BG's defense everyone has been taking liberties - we've just rolled with the punches (ie changes). For example when Jurak 'tamed' the chimera that we had been fighting for pages. So I understand why he would do the drastic changes he did without thinking it would bother anyone.

Things aren't going very realistically again - We all have gold suddenly and magic items and everything - that's why I joined in on the magic weapons and things.

Just a suggestion, if you don't like what someone wrote don't attack them until they've at least had a chance to respond. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

Womble brought the discussion to a point: It's a game.

But this was not the way it started, it started as a story, a group story - and I found it challenging to join in something, novellists have done already: Having their own story plots, finding a main stream and then joining together for one goal.

Well, the story writers have become a minority during Infinity and the gamers took over as majority. That's what happened here <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> .

I didn't start in the game genre - so, as my bad job news came I stood before a very hard decision: Carry on and become unhappier and unhappier (got enough of that at my job) or pull myself/my char out of a game that once started as a story. Well, Story-Kiya was not designed as Game-Kiya - she didn't fit in anymore - sad, but true. My further posts would have become more and out of place...

Writing should be fun, and those joining in there should have the same intention, not different ones (story/game) - so, I left the game.

Sounds easy? Nope, wasn't. It will take time until I've digested this XP - but the next time I'm going to write, I'm determined to make sure that all participating in there really want a story - and not something else.

My definitions:

game - fighting, killing, looting, items, leveling up - rinse and repeat

story - several threads joining together eventually, development of plot and char, new XP, relationships, interaction, communication, including the other char's abilities into my posts, red thread, goal


Addendum: I took chars with me, correct - I asked Polgara and Lynn for permission: got them - and Wolfy was developed by me, so I had the right to do this. I would've liked to ask Hypatia, too - but sadly she's not here anymore on the forum. So Viper, for this decision, you can blame me, not for the other ones.

We do want a story Kiya. Its just that each of us has a different perspective on it. A story with so many different authors will obvoiusly cause confusion at some point or other. I meant NO OFFENSE to bg let me make that clear. You cannot just make massive changes to the storyline. Even in a coherent novel with one author. The chimera, bleh who cares? A chimera is simply a beast, not a very scary one at that and I would defend Jurak for taking the action he did. The idea was to get the evil mastermind behind the beast. That would be much harder, because brains always gives more power that brawn.
However lame you think the prevoius guy's post is you should always try to write aound it or incorporate it into the main story. Try to get a 'flow' so to speak. However weird it gets. BUT don't mess with people's characters, that just sucks.

More people bring more ideas, perhaps we can intergrate them into a coherent story. That's the fun in it. Thats what I thought right? That's why I started writing in this story.....

Well, Womble, it's NO story, not in my humble decision, I've edited my post above to explain my point of view about story/game. And my view/opinion is not coherent with the majority, that's all. (It was at the beginning of our story)

No hard feelings - but as I said, my Story-Kiya does not fit in there anymore. And I have the right to decide over my char ... and integrating only goes up to a certain point, crossing this: My char looses her life, her blood, her flesh, her personality.

Same goes for a story IMHO, integrating several opinions of how a story is designed only goes up to a certain point: then it bursts - you can't write around everything. This is possible in a game: quests, fighting, level up, items - quests, fighting... I hope, you understand what I'm trying to say? And in a game every race, breed, class can come up - why not put a bit of science fiction in there? No prob for a game - damn prob for a story that had started in a totally different way.

The story burst - changed into a game. If you all would openly accept this and then carry on in game style, all would be fine, coherence is back again then.

That was my example of people taking a storyline that was going one way and giving it a twist, it just made it more interesting.

Still my point is that there are ways to ask people to take back their posts without getting aggressive about it. That's what I think happened.

Well, some of us believe its a story and will have fun writing more. Sorry you feel that way.

1)i don't see why we can't integrate anything,
as long as the story is not to preposterous,
like it's only a fantasy story ......right?

2)The different styles are all unique
and very entertaining,
and that's the main thing...right?

3)I thought it was just getting going,
i mean after all that's happened
ie: characters leaving, characters joining,
it's called go with the flow......
as long as the flow goes! Right?

Faile it is your character you can make it whatever you want dont apologize for that. Besides two days ago there is a post of mine in the story that says one of the wizards is on an island in the middle of a sea or something like that. point being.....using something from previous posts and incorporating,
that into your version, while at the same time, being consistant with the story.
