Uh, its far more than "distance" in this situation.

It's a person who appears to have a gut wound from the text. The boat is rocking and heaving. The distance is UP a ladder. Oh, and the boat is burning, water spraying into the ship, and a giant monster is trying to destroy the ship.

So its not a "simple" short distance. Hauling someone up a flight of stairs like that isn't exactly easy even under normal circumstances. The situation on the boat at that point is far from "normal".

And of course people are panicking. Which doesn't help.
