Not sure if I'm just being an idiot or whether this is meant to be design, or what, but if you have Ifan and Sebille in your party, in Act 2 both character quests lead you to Roost and both want to chat to him. Problem is, both dialouges lead to a fight with Roost himself and you have to kill him. That means the other character, whichever one didn't get to chat, now has a quest log still telling you they need to meet Roost, but obviously they can't. Do I just have to play a bit more and wait for their journals to update? Or is this a legit problem?

Can't completely answer this but I had Sebille in my party, however the dialogue didn't trigger with Roost. So I ended up fighting with him and killing him but afterwards Sebille acted like I talked to him.

Did you try talking to the other one after the battle? Normally there should be a new conversation option to talk about what happened. I could talk to Sebille after the battle and she acted like she talked with Roost.
Perhaps you can also try letting them talk with Roost's spirit.

If they both kill the same target then the quest proceeds as normal

Does it? When I approached Roost, Sebille interjected and got her dialogue and her quest updated while Ifan's did not. Ifan has already spoken to the dwarf in the cave and Hannag and got both of those respective conversations with corresponding quest updates so I don't know if the conversation with Roost is even necessary for his quest to proceed. I'm nervous to continue forward and end up failing his quest.

So an update on the situation;

I did use Spirit Vision (I think that's what it's called) to see Roost after he was killed, Sebille was the one to go through her quest, but Ifan's quest didn't update or anything and all Roost really did was yell and scream a lot.

I decided to just steam on ahead and not bother about it and see if it really mattered.

For what it's worth, I don't think it really changed anything. Ifan's quest still continued and updated on the Nameless Isle and so did Sebille without any fault.

I feared there would be a similar problem regarding the Shadow Prince, between Sebille and the Red Prince, but this time Spirit Vision yeilded results and the Red Prince was able to talk to the lizard after Sebille's interaction.

EDIT;
In relevance to your Ifan unable to take damage/ auto enter combat, I've never experienced this. I'm nearing the end of my first playthrough and I've never seen or heard anything like this. On the bugs I have encountered I've gone back to saves before the bug appeared and that seems to have fixed it. (In my case the door to the Shrine of Lucian wouldn't open to let the Pilgrim through in Arx, I'd been saving regularly so I was able to backtrack one or two saves and it worked fine after that).

For me, Ifan's quest never updated really. I don't think me and my friend (co-op, she had Ifan in party and I had Sebille) ever finished his quest. We did reloading and only sending the companion up but nothing.

So I went with Sebille, finished her quest later on, but Ifan's quest never...really finished. Unless it did and we never got an update? Really it's hard to tell, me and my friend had SOOO many bugs with quests, it's hard to tell what was meant to happen and what was bugged really.

Hmmm, that is an odd one. I haven't tried out the co-op yet, just finished my first playthrough and am trying to convince my friends to buy it.

My party was Lohse (me), Red Prince, Sebille, Ifan.

When it came to Roost both wanted to chat but Sebille took priority, in both cases I fiddled with a fight broke out. I killed Roost after Sebille's dialouge and then decided to soldier on.

When I bumped into Alexander at the Nameless Isle, Ifan's quest seemed to catchup and there was some stuff between Ifan and Alexander.

Later on, when it came to the Prince of the House of Shadows, Sebille had her dialouge, killed the Lizard, then used Spirit Vision and was able to chat with the Red Prince.

I tried a bunch of things, talking to him with Sebilel or Ifan while the other was downstairs etc. It's definitely bugged but the good news is that is doesn't matter. TBH I can't remember who I finally ended up letting talk to Roost, I (think) it was Ifan with Sebille downstairs, and even Ifan didn't get a quest update (maybe because of the elf captive quest, a theory) however both characters had their stories move forward at the Nameless Isle so don't sweat it.
