D:OS2 is underwhelming game?
I think so.
Depends on your main reasons for playing the game, I suppose. Some people play games for a few days, or long enough to write a review, focus on all the things you can supposedly do in the game, are happy to call it good then move on to other things.
Other people actually play games critically, analyze the things you can do and whether it gives the illusion of depth, or if some decisions are actually highly detrimental to extended playability.
I'm harder on DOS2 than other games, because it's so close to what I want it to be. So many great things about it. It's like someone serving up a delicious, perfectly cooked steak, setting it in front of you, then hocking a big slimey loogie right in the middle of it with some aggressively poor design decisions.
Sure, the portions around the edges are still great, and if you close your eyes you can ignore the big spit wad right in the middle. But your ability to find joy in the experience is extremely diminished.
